Chapter Forty-Four

Warning: Sex scene in this chapter...don't know why...it is quite brief but I just tried it to try writing something new... so yeah...warning!
Also I've been lazy and gaming all weekend so I have no chapters edited after this...there might be a couple of days without upload unless by some miracle I do it today...which is unlikely!

"Well done Elodie, nice way to finish off the first half of the season! Grand slam confirmed!" I hear Christian say down the radio and I smile to myself as I wave to the fans as I complete my cool-down lap.

What a fucking weekend!

"LET'S GO! I knew it! I knew this weekend would be awesome! Thank you so much to the team, the car, the comms, the strategy - everything! It was superb!"

"You were in a different world this weekend Elodie, well done!" I hear Dani this time and I grin to myself. "One for the history books no doubt!"

"Record-breaking season baby! Let's go!" I shout once more before I pull into the pit lane behind Max who had spent the race challenging me for my position with no success, eventually having to back off when Lewis challenged him for second on fresher tires. I do a fist pump before hitting my chest as I stand on the halo of the car, then jump off high school musical style before running straight over to the team, where Dani is at the front and I leap into her cars, feeling the hits on my helmet and hugs from the cheering team around me for a moment that feels like it lasts forever before I pull away, snapping my visor up so that Dani can see the smile in my eyes as I tap her on the side of her head to signal that it was her call that won the race.

It had been her strategy choice that made it a win, right before the last moment she decided that I should start on softs like everyone else, not mediums as my plan had been, changing so that I would end up entering the first corner first. Which I did, and I quickly pulled away from Max and Lewis, gradually pulling a gap from them. I didn't pit as everyone expected me too, instead, I stayed out on the softs until my gap to the rest of the cars was around twenty seconds, then I was gifted a free pitstop by KMag crashing out, which was good because I had begun losing time, I pitted immediately and came back out behind the safety car, continuing to lead the race.

The safety car backed us all up and Max did his normal Max things of driving as close to me as he was allowed but the start was all up to me and so I chose an unconventional point to begin the race start again, getting the jump on him and was out of the DRS zone before we got onto the Kemmel straight. With fresher, although albeit somewhat cold mediums, I locked up slightly into the chicane but it didn't matter. I stayed on track and continued to lead, my two or three laps newer tires helping me keep the lead before eventually Max, Lewis, Charles and I pulled away from the rest of the pack. Eventually, with the other three having to defend from one another, I was left pulling away from them all and finished the race a good twelve seconds ahead of Max who had bought his car home in second to give us our first 1-2 in a while, extending both mine and Red Bull's leads in the championships.

Once out of their arms I strip myself of my helmet and balaclava, a bright smile on my face being streamed onto the large screens around us, my cheeks rosy from the effort and I feel myself get wrapped up in a bear hug the moment I step off the weigh scale. There's no need to question who it is as I wrap my arms around his waist, burying my head in his chest as I enjoy the moment in his arms.

I try to pull away but Max's arms are like a vice and so I just tilt my head up to look at him, he looks down at me, a wide smile on his face as he looks at me proudly. "Well done," he whispers as he looks deep in my eyes and I smile brightly at him, pleased with the praise as I bit on my lip, resisting the temptation to kiss him as we were still in a very public place with hundreds of cameras trained on us.
