China's P.O.V.

I sipped on my coffee, as I read the morning news paper. I wanted to enjoy the last bit of peace and quiet I could get before I woke the boys up for school. Iyahna didn't need me to wake her up. She got up on her own every morning last school year. I don't doubt that she will this school year.

The kids weren't the quietest, when they prepared themselves for school. It was always chaotic with everyone fighting over who gets to go in the bathroom first, and the boys coming down the stairs yelling about how they can't find something.

The rays from the sun shown in from the window. It was always nice to see the sun rise in the morning. I always awoke at 4:30 in the morning. Checking the time on my watch, I saw that it was 7:00 AM. Let the chaos begin.

I climbed up the steps to Ivan, Ethan, and Sevin's room. I swung the door open, and clapped my hands loudly.

"Wake up, boys! Wake up! This is the day that the Lord has made! We shall be glad, and get up! Come on!" I announced.

"Really, Ma. You're shouting Psalms at us this early in the morning and incorrectly at that", Sevin groaned, and sat up.

"Oh good. You're up. You and your brothers get dressed. It's 7:00 already", I told him.

I walked out of the room, and made my way downstairs to watch Law and Order on the couch. A minute later, I heard Sevin and Ivan fighting over who got to go first in the bathroom.

"You went in first the last time. Now, scram, you little sh-t", could be heard from all the way downstairs.

"Hey! Language up there!" I shouted.

"Sorry Ma", Ivan shouted back.

10 minutes later, all three of the boys came down the stairs all ready for school.

"Did you make breakfast for us, Ma?" Sevin asked.

"No, I did not, my dear boy. You're going to have to fix yourselves some cereal or oatmeal", I replied.

"Oatmeal? The most useless breakfast food on the planet", Ivan stated.

"What planet? Because oatmeal contains your important minerals and vitamins and antioxidants", I said.

"How come you've never went to college, if you're so smart", Ivan asked.

"I'm going to pretend you asking me that question isn't you being a smartass. Life gets in the way. I'm glad it did too, because I wouldn't have you guys", I gushed.

"But you could have went to school to be a pediatrician like you always dreamed of", Ivan pointed out.

"I know, but we all have choices to make. I chose you guys", I smiled. "You guys mean everything to me."

"It's way too early in the morning to be getting sappy", Sevin sniffled, as he hugged me.

"Don't cry. I'm content with where I'm at", I said.

Ivan and Ethan joined in the hug. It was just a minute of me embracing my boys.

"Now, go have some breakfast", I told them.

"What do you want for breakfast, Ethan?" Ivan asked, as they went to the kitchen.

"Peanut butter and jelly!" Ethan replied enthusiastically.

"Uhm, Ma? Can you tell me why Sleeping Beauty is still up there fast asleep drooling and everything? Were you planning to let her stay home?" Sevin asked.

"Shoot! I didn't know she was still asleep", I said, as I ran upstairs to Iyahna's room.

I sat down on the bed, and began gently shaking her awake. Iyahna rubbed her eyes, as she sat up.

"Wake up, sweetie. Wake up. You must've forgotten to set your alarm clock last night", I cooed.

"No I didn't. I remember setting it last night", Iyahna replied sleepily.

"It's okay. Just get ready for school now", I instructed.

"Okay", Iyahna mumbled.

"Alright, I'll get out, so you can get dressed." I caressed her chin before leaving to give her some privacy.

Downstairs in the kitchen, Ivan sat at the table with Ethan eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

"Hey, Ma, tell Iyahna if she doesn't hurry up soon, I'm leaving", Ivan spoke with a mouth full of food.

"Nope, you're going to wait for your sister, and then you can leave", I said.

"She takes for freaking ever getting dressed. If she isn't down in 5, I'm gone", Ivan stated.

"You ain't going nowhere. You're going to stay your little butt right here until your sister is ready", I replied.

"I'm going to be late!" Ivan pointed to his watch.

Just then, Iyahna came into the kitchen, and headed straight for the cabinet.

"Nope. You don't have time for breakfast. Sorry, kiddo." I gave her a sympathetic look.

Ethan's bus pulled up in front of the house.

"Okay, E, do you have your bookbag and everything", I quizzed.

"Yup!" Ethan cheered.

"Okay. Come on, kid", I said picking him up.

I opened the door, and led Ethan to the bus.

"Have a good day at school", I said, pecking him on his forehead.

"Bye Mommy", Ethan replied.

"Bye, baby", I stated.

Once I went back into the house, I went upstairs to get ready for my shift.
