Sophie's POV

"What!" Grady yelled, his face looked like he hadn't decided whether to ground me for the rest of my life or kill my "boyfriend".

"I'm just kidding," I said hastily, not wanting to make him angry at me.  "We were doing it for a game," I explained.

"Ok, well if you're really telling the truth I'll let you go, but next time I'm locking you up in your room forever!"

"Bye, dad!  See you in a couple of days," I said as I teleported to Everglen.

"So how did it go," Keefe asked, "Did you get a video of it?  How mad was he?  Did he threaten to lock you up in your room?"

"Calm down," I said as I got out the camera and handed it to Biana.  Everyone huddled around her as she clicked play.

"Whoah, he looks so angry," Keefe said, "One second he was confused the next angry!"

"Well I hope he doesn't lock you up the time you get an actual boyfriend," Fitz said, looking at me.

Before I tried to figure out what that meant I asked, "Keefe, truth or dare."

"Dare!" he replied.

"I dare you to...get a tunic tomorrow that says "My best friend is Tam". I couldn't decide who's glare was more murderous, Tam or Keefe.

"Fine.  But only if I put his name as Bangs Boy." Keefe negotiated.

"Fine, but then you have to wear it at school for two days."  Keefe nodded and looked around the room and decided on Fitz.

"Fitz, truth or dare."

"Truth," Fitz replied, choosing the safer route.

"Do you like someone in this room?" he asked

"Yes," he replied, looking at Lihn when he said it.  My heart was slowly sinking until Fitz saw my face and transmitted:

I just did that to distract everyone

While I was still trying to figure out what he meant we all decided it was high time to figure out who was sleeping in what rooms.  We had decided that we would sleep in different rooms for the last night.

"How about Fitz and Sophie," Keefe yelled.

"Yeah!"

"I agree!"

Eventually after a lot of shouting, a near-deathmatch between Tam and Keefe, plus a pillow fight we had decided on who was sleeping where.  Fitz and I would be sleeping in one room, Keefe and Biana in another, Dex and Lihn in the spare room and Tam would be leaving tonight before everyone else for a project for Mr. Forkle.

"Where should I put my stuff," I asked Fitz when we go into his room.

"Somewhere over there.  I don't care too much.  after a quick shower I hopped in bed and once Fitz hopped in our fingers found each other and I fell asleep.

Tam's POV

"Glad you could make it."  Those were Mr. Forkle's first words to me as I glittered on the front porch of Choralmere.

"If you're here to convince me to stay here I'm out of it," I said, already grabbing my home crystal.

"No, not at all.  I'm here to share a secret that I have kept for millennia and since we will need to combine forces in case anything else worse than the Neverseen comes up."  He dug around in his pockets and when he held the crystal to the light I realized it was blue.

"Where are we going?"

"To a very famous landmark in the human world." As he gestured for me to step in the light.  after a second of hesitating, I walked towards the beam of light.

Sophie's POV

I woke up to find the sun just peeking through the window.  I sat up wondering where I was when I saw my surroundings.  Then I remembered.  We were having a sleepover at Everglen.  To my side, I could see Fitz waking up.

"Good morning," he said groggily.

"Morning," I said as I hopped out of bed and Fitz did the same.  as we headed downstairs we knocked on everyone else's doors to wake them up.  By the time we headed downstairs Biana, Dex, Keef, and Lihn were all downstairs talking.

"Took you long enough to get downstairs," Keefe said.  "Did you take a detour?"

I was saved by Fitz who countered, "What were you and Biana doing when I accidentally opened the door?"  At this Biana and Keefe, both turned tomato red.  Biana was about to argue when Della came in and set the food down.  We all ate quickly, so we could have more time to play.

"Do you know where Tam was going?" I asked Lihn, leaning back in my seat, full from all the food.

"No,  but I heard Mr. Forkle saying that it was going to be an important step between worlds," she answered.

"Huh," I said, "Well Tam better tell us.  If he doesn't I and Fitz can squeeze the secret out of him."

"Well, now that we're done with all the boring stuff how about we do a splotching match?"  suggested Biana.  We all agreed and went outside.

"If you get out then you have to stay out and can do other matches," I added.  We decided that Biana and I would go, Keefe and Lihn, and Dex would be the first pairs.

"Of course, I'm paired up with wonderboy," mumbled Dex.  We started and as soon as Biana threw the splotcher at me I grabbed it with my mind and threw it back at her ten times harder.  Luckily these were made out of slime and only made her stumble a little bit.

After Keefe beat Lihn after asking her, "Do you like Dex?" to throw her off.  Fitz also beat Dex after a minute or so.

"Keefe and Fitz should go!" yelled Dex.

"Yeah! That way one of them can be sparkly pink!" Lihn agreed.

"Fine," said Keefe, "But only if I get to throw one at Ro if I lose."  Keefe started with it and after what looked like a painful save by Fitz, Fitz launched it back at him the pink sparkles flew all over him, and when he wiped the slime off he launched it at Keefe.

"Now, since we know that Foster will destroy Fitz in this can we just end it," asked Keefe.

"Nope," Fitz and I said in unison.

"Ready, set, SPLOTCH!" Biana said as I grabbed the splotcher with my mind and flew it at Fitz so quickly that in less than a second he was covered in slime.

"What did I tell you," asked Keefe, "Didn't I tell you that Sophie would win almost instantly?"  Fitz was about to argue when Tam suddenly appeared in between all of us.

"What's wrong?"  I couldn't tell who said it as we rushed over to see what was wrong.

"Nothing," he said hurriedly as he told us, "Hold on tight." As he led us into the blue light.

"Where are we?" I asked.

"In a place called New York," Mr. Forkle said appearing from the shadows.

"Why did you bring us here?" Biana asked.

"I want to reveal the fact that there is another species maybe even more evolved than we are," he said, "Demigods."
