"What are you talking about?" I asked, wondering where this conversation was heading.
"You don't know about Christmas?" she asked, sounding shocked, "Well, no wonder I haven't seen any gift wrap! You should try it out one day."

Sophie's POV
"What's Christmas?" I asked.
"You don't know what Christmas is? No wonder everyone is blowing up things. Well actually Octavian did try to blow up some things, but that's beside the point," she paused for a second, catching her breath, "Christmas is sort of like one of your guy's holidays except it's probably more fun. So you get a tree you decorate it and then on the 25th you give and open presents that you got from other people. Wait, shouldn't you know about Christmas?"
I frowned trying to remember anything about the holiday. "No, I only remember that my parents didn't like to celebrate it. Don't ask me why I can't remember."
"Well, I should probably get back before Percy figures out how to light leap and come hear. See you tomorrow!"
With her giving a final wave she left. What did she mean about seeing her tomorrow? Guess I'll have to wait and see.
"Can you help me with these Fizzbery balls?" Edaline asked as I closed the front door.
"Coming!" I replied and went to the kitchen where I saw Edaline had finished all the food and went on to the desserts.
"Why are we making the food again?" I asked, "I thought you said gnomes are better at cooking."
"We had all these supplies so I figured, why not? Also, it allows me to mess around with some recipe ideas I've had for a while. Can you hand me that cooking tray?"
I quickly grabbed it for her as the door opened up and Grady came through his stomach growling at all the food.
"I'll take a quick shower and then we should eat," he said and dashed upstairs while I set the table. Edaline finished making up the food and I brought them to the table. Sandor quickly snatched off a couple of Fizzbery balls as I was about to put them on the table.
"What?" he asked innocently as I put the rest of them on the table, "I have to make sure they don't have food poisoning."
He reached over for the other desserts but before he could blink he was slammed against the wall and pinned there while I tied him up.
"Have fun while we eat all the desserts!" I yelled enthusiastically as Grady came down, his hair still wet from the shower. After a minute or so I asked Grady, "Have you ever heard of Christmas? Or seen something different in the forbidden cities?"
He looked up, surprised at the question. "Sorry kiddo, the Council told me not to say anything. All I can tell you is that the Council is planning something big around the holiday and to not tell your friends about it."
"Ok," I said as I went upstairs to shower and go to sleep. After using my telekinesis I was spent and barely had enough time to go under the covers before I drifted off to sleep.
------------------------------------------
When I opened my eyes I realized that I hadn't closed the blinds. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and did a double take. My room looked completely different from what I had fallen asleep to.
There were lights strung across the side and what looked like tree leaves bent in a circle and hanging outside my window facing the pastures. I looked around and found a ginormous tree standing off to the side covered in ornaments and lights.
When I looked at the tree something clicked and all my memories of Christmas returned. Turns out I did celebrate Christmas but Mr. Forkle erased those memories.
"I'm gonna kill him," I muttered angrily as I changed and went downstairs.
"Good morning kiddo," Grady said as I walked in and saw them both eating.
"Who decorated my room?" I asked.
"Oh that was Flori, apparently the gnomes celebrate something like Christmas and she had nothing to do." I nodded and sat down at the table and devoured the food. It tasted like buttery cinnamon rolls with crushed candy canes inside.
"I'm gonna go to Everglen," I said once I finished eating, "See you in a little!" With that, I went to the living room and saw Flori and the other gnomes working hard to decorate the entire house. I went to the leapmaster and called Everglen.
"Have fun!" yelled Flori and I waved back to her and stepped into the light. When I arrived I saw that someone had set up a huge picnic area outside next to the house.
Since the gates were down I walked up and rang the doorbell. About half a millisecond later Biana opened the door with a huge smile on her face.
"I'm so glad you're here!" she said, "No someone can see what I'm living with!" I stepped into the house and saw a huge tree in the corner that was decorated with lights and ornaments.
"What's the big deal?" I asked.
"Do you not see the giant TREE in our living room?" she practically yelled.
"Bi, calm down that's exactly how my house will look in a couple of hours. Probably worse but that's not the point."
"Not about the tree again!" Fitz complained as he came down the stairs. He noticed me and hugged me and turned on Biana, "Dad's told you a thousand times, it's part of the new holiday."
"Okay, you don't have to be rude about it," she said defensively. Fitz was about to open his mouth in response but was interrupted by a loud whooping noise. We all quickly looked around and saw Percy sliding down the banister headfirst like a penguin.
"That was amazing! Best banister I've ever ridden!" he said as he stood up, "We finished packing so we should be all good to go."
"Go to where?" I asked.
"It was going to be a surprise, but were going to the forbidden cities for a couple of days!" Fitz exclaimed, twirling me around.
