Steven was riding his horse through the open fields, it was a gloomy day and he had been feeling stressed as of late, but riding usually made him feel better, it took his mind off things.. though this time it didn't seem to be working.
He sat on his horse moping as it slowly walked, there were two little ducks in front of him.. he slightly smiled at their cuteness before he heard a horse nearby neighing, he quickly looked toward where the sound came from and saw what he thought was a girl with long dark curly hair and a huge black cloak riding a horse.
She was riding extremely fast. "Woah there.. Miss, are you in trouble?" He asked
He didn't get a response, the horse she was on ran past him, he assumed she needed help. "Come on" he said nudging his horse to go, it started running and he followed her.He rode through big green open fields and she looked back slightly seeing Steven following her. "Cmon!" He said going faster, she turned a corner at a huge rock and he did too.. keeping up with her.
She rode up to a huge branch. "Careful now!" Steven shouted as she jumped over it with her horse, he stopped right next to the branch watching her ride away, she slowed down as she got got the top of the hill, she turned and looked down at him taking the cloak off.
Steven could now see it was a guy, he gave Steven a cocky smile and Steve sat there shocked. The mystery man rode away as Steve followed him, he finally found him after a few minutes, he was riding along a dirt path.
Steve came up next to him on his horse "Enjoying your victory lap?" Steve asked. the man mumbled something Steven couldn't hear as he looked around them, not expecting Steven to find him. "You'll not be afforded such an ample head-start this time I assure you" Steven said riding alongside him.
"Apologies sir.. I did not mean to cause anyone concern" the man said. "Does your maid know you are riding astride?" Steven questioned. "My maid..? You do realize I'm not a girl yes?" The guy asked Steve. "Anyways I have no maid" he assured Steve.
"Oh then you are married?" Steven asked, the man glared at him. "Forgive me.." Steven said smiling slightly. "Then you are lost?" Steve asked. "I am not lost either. I'm on my way back to Mayfair it's just up ahead" the guy said.
"Mayfair?" Steve asked surprised. "Well then-" the man interupted Steven"I appreciate your attention, sir, but I assure you I am perfectly safe.. perhaps we can pretend this encounter never took place?" he asked Steven.
"You allow me to go my way ,and you go yours" he said glancing over to Steven who looked at him for a moment. "You worry about being seen" Steve stated. "I worry about meeting strange men in parks at dawn, who fail to leave me alone with their questions" he said holding his head high.
"Your secret is safe. I shall not tell a soul" Steve assured him. "How grateful I am" the man said sarcastically. "Losing races to strange men in such parks at dawn... I can only imagine the questions I would be asked" Steven said glancing over to the man.
They both chuckled slightly. "Is that what that was?" The man asked. "A race?" "Was it not? Steve replied. "Does one not need actual competition for a race?" The man replied smirking. "You could say that if we had decided on a finish line together, but alas we made no such agreement" Steve said being petty.
"Oh.. I see you are not one for losing" the man stated smiling. "I shall have you-" Steve stopped himself knowing he was wrong. The man laughed as they continued riding down the path.
"In the rare instances that it occurs... I'd admit that I have either lost or am in the wrong, but I'm afraid the same cannot be said for you" Steven said. "I beg your pardon?" The man said stopping his horse and looking at Steve. "Mayfair is not right ahead.." Steven said stopping his horse.
