It was now the night of the second ball, eveyone was hoping the queen would finally name a diamond tonight. It was just like the 1st ball except this one was being held by the queen, lots were already dancing and chatting. The queen was watching everyone with a keen eye.
Lots of ladies were coming up to the queen and bowing trying to look presentable, in hopes they would get picked to be the diamond.
The Sharma's arrived before Harrington and his friends once again, they went up to the queen and they all bowed, she smiled looking at Edwina. "I do hope you are finding everything in town to your satisfaction" the queen said looking at Lady Mary.
"Indeed I am, your majesty.." Lady Mary replied. "This time around, that is" she said acting snarky. "Uh perhaps your mother would enjoy some refreshment, Mr Sharma?" Lady Danbury said looking at Edward, he nodded and nudged his mother and sister to follow him.
The three of them walked off and Lady Danbury stayed to talk to the queen. "I might think Lady Mary deserves some recognition, ma'am. It's certainly a sign of true devotion on her part, having sought to introduce her children under the discerning eye of your majesty, after all.." she said trying to butter her up.
"The youngest one, in particular, I think, will certainly make a match that will be the envy of the ton." Lady Danbury said. "Why do I sense my strings being pulled, Lady Danbury?" The queen asked. "One of the last times we talked you said you wanted to shake up the season. Now is your chance" lady Danbury said walking off.
Steven, Roxana, Vivienne, and their mothers, just now arrived. "Anyone here you've not yet rejected?" Vivienne asked Steven. "Do you see anyone who looks worthy?" Steven asked messing with his cuffs.
"Hm.." Vivienne said looking around. "Oh he's cute" she said pointing to Edward, Steven glanced to where she was pointing. "That's a man, plus he's an ass" Steven said as Vivienne rolled her eyes.
"Dosen't matter! We shall have our diamond tonight, and I shall have a wife" Steven said in denial. "Roxana's mother grabbed her wrist dragging her to the queen to introduce her. "Lady Buckley.. Miss Buckely" the queen said watching them walk up.
"Such a shame, your presentation at court was so rudely interrupted" the queen said. "A shame indeed.." Roxana said, fake smiling. " I nearly forgot you were making your debut this season" queen Charlotte said as Steven and Vivienne walked up behind Roxana.
Roxana's mother nudged her to speak. "Uh, it up a delightful ball, your majesty.. very diamond-y" Roxana said awkwardly laughing. "Though I must admit I am more of am emerald person myself" Roxana said awkwardly.
Then queen gave her a confused look as Roxana realized she was being to weird, she cleared her throat feeling the tension. The queen suddenly burst out laughing.
People around noticed the queen seemed to like Roxana. "Oh, dear!" The queen said laughing heartily. "My favorite necklace, is one of emeralds, how thoughtful of you to know that" the queen said smiling.
Roxana stood there shocked the queen actually liked her, her mother was shocked as well, Steven stood behind her proud and Vivienne smiled before walking off to get a drink.
"It seems you have indeed come a long way, Miss Buckley" the queen said, Roxana chuckled as they bowed before walking away, Roxana quickly excused herself to go find Vivienne.
William came from out of nowhere and walked up to Steven. "If the queen, in fact, names Roxana the diamond. Who will you marry then Stevie" he said. "I don't know you the artist, do you see anyone remotely inspiring?" Steven asked jokingly. William walked off chuckling as Steven rolled his eyes.
