Morning, 11 a.m.

Sophie had just finished her semester in the university and was back home during her break unlike the other 24-year-olds who waited for a break to get together with friends for parties and trips.

She loved watching Korean dramas but hardly had time with her busy life in the university. Now she finally had the time of her life to binge-watch her never-ending list of Kdramas.

While she was watching Netflix, suddenly she heard a blood-curdling scream from outside. She remembered watching a crime thriller movie last night and thought that maybe it was just her delusion, so she didn't pay much attention to it.

She hated when anyone disturbed her while she was enjoying her 'me time,' so she had kept her phone on silent mode. All the notifications piled up on her phone, waiting to be seen. Was she pretty chilled or careless? Well, we'll get to know.

Afternoon, 1:30 p.m.

After binge-watching for hours together, she started feeling hungry. Since she was alone at home, she thought of making herself something to eat. She had just picked up the pan in the kitchen when she heard some growling sound from the front gate of her house.

She was sure that this wasn't her delusion. The growling sound was coming from somewhere nearby. She wasn't sure what to do, but then eventually she kept the pan down and slowly went and opened the main door to check what was happening and from where the sound was exactly coming.

She thought that maybe some wild animal had barged into their colony. And maybe the scream she heard some time back wasn't her delusion. Was it perhaps a panther or a bear? Did it attack anyone in the colony? Countless thoughts were passing through her head.

But then everything became clear or more complicated? Just as she opened the main door and stepped out onto the balcony, she got the shock of her life. The scene in front of her was enough to give her nightmares for her entire life.

She saw her neighbor, Catherine, ripping out the neck of her husband, Keith. Within seconds, Keith's body fell down to the ground, and blood started gushing out from his wound. Before her brain could process what she just witnessed, Catherine turned towards her direction, and Sophie fell back on the ground from the dreadful sight in front of her.

Catherine's eyes had turned white, her skin was pale, and contrast to that pale skin were the black veins and red blood that painted her body. She looked extremely terrifying, not at all normal.

Somehow Sophie managed to hide behind a pillar. She wanted to rush inside her house, but Catherine could have seen her if she reacted before thinking properly. She didn't even want to imagine what would happen if Catherine caught her.

She remained hidden behind the pillars until there was complete silence for the past few minutes. She gathered some courage and turned to look again to see if Catherine was still in sight, but thankfully she was now nowhere to be seen.

Sophie was still crouching down behind the railings. She tried moving a little behind to get a better view, but just then, her back hit something, and she froze in her spot. She gulped and slowly turned behind, fear building up inside her, making her tremble. She sighed in relief when she saw that it was just a table.

But that relief didn't last long as she heard another growling sound. When she turned and searched for its source, she was terror-stricken to see the body of Keith come back to life. He was no different from Catherine, whom she just witnessed.
