She dragged herself from the ground and slowly entered her house and shut the door close as quickly as possible. Making sure that she doesn't do anything that would make her presence known.
Sophie was trembling and sweating profusely. Her heart was pounding rapidly and she was unable to breathe properly. She was terrified from what she just witnessed.
She stayed there until her condition became normal. Once she was calm downed she stood up and then frantically stated closing all the curtains of the house so nobody comes to know that she was inside. She double checked each and every door and windows to make sure they were all properly locked.
After she felt that she was safe she went back to the kitchen to drink some water. She was no longer hungry nor in the condition to prepare anything and eat. She turned her phone on and read the numerous notifications piled up on her phone.
The news about the outbreak was all on the news. Three states, including hers, were affected. The outbreak was caused by a virus and it transferred from one person to the other from a bite or scratch from the infected.
She didn't have to read the remaining things to know what happened after getting infected as she herself witnessed it happening right in front of her.
Her mind was clouded with many things but most importantly her family. There were several missed calls from her family. She called back her parents and they picked up the call. Fortunately, they were fine as they were currently in Australia on a business trip.
The virus hadn't reached other countries yet as there was an emergency worldwide lockdown imposed to control the spread of the virus. All the flights were canceled, which also meant that her parents won't be able to return until everything comes under control.
She then called her brother who was supposed to be at college. Where else would a 19-year-old be?
