Sophie couldn't believe her eyes. It was none other than Victor, her first and only love.

She had loved him from her teenage years during high school, but for him, she was just the girl he never noticed, or at least that's what she thought.

She was frustrated with her one-sided love towards him and wanted to get him out of her head. It was really painful for her to see him with other girls besides her.

She tried her best to forget him, but when they went to different colleges, she thought she would forget him once and for all. But for all the years, she tried moving on, she couldn't.

She tried taking interest in other boys, but nobody was able to replace him from her heart. Because of all this, she was never able to have a relationship, and she just hated the idea of casual flings.

After failing to get into any relationship, she focused herself to make herself a better version of herself. She did everything she could to advance her career. Finally, she thought that she had succeeded in overcoming her feelings for him, but after seeing him now, she knew she had failed miserably.

Sophie took a deep breath and tried to calm her pounding heart. She had to think rationally. It wasn't the time to get swayed by feelings.

"What do you want? Why were you breaking into my house?" Sophie demanded.

???:"What do you mean why?" one of the strangers replied incredulously.

???:"Can't you see that we're trying to save ourselves from those zombies? Aren't you going to help us?"

???: "Don't you remember us? Like seriously?" another stranger chimed in.

"Ashton, why do you think I'm supposed to help others when I'm myself struggling to survive?" Sophie shot back. "And Alex, I'm not the type of person who forgets people once their work is done." Alex used to treat her like a pushover.

"Aren't you being selfish now?" Ashton and Alex said in unison.

"Stop it, guys! This is not the time to argue. The zombies might reach here anytime," Victor interjected.

"Sophie, please let us in. I promise we won't harm you or cause any trouble," Victor pleaded.

Sophie sighed.

She thought for a minute and then spoke. "Ok, fine. I'll let you in, but on one condition."

A growling sound was heard again.

It was surely from somewhere very close.
Everyone was terrified now.
