14. The Prey or the Predator

The screen showed me the entrance of the building from where she walked on. A few guards blocked her path and I felt my breath get stuck in my throat. "Hello. I'm here to meet the General Manager. I have an appointment."

I could see the guard stare at her intensely through the camera, but let her in eventually. "Y/n, you need to breathe." I let go of the breath I didn't realise I was holding for so long. We had rehearsed all of this before, and Lisa was acting jittery then. I could hear the others sigh in relief at Lisa's confident voice, but it didn't last long. Right in front of her was a lady with a metal detector she had to pass through. 'What the hell do you think this place is?! An airport?' I heard Seokjin's voice. But it wasn't the time to complain, Lisa was standing still.

"Lisa. Walk." My eyes were blown wide, as I stared at the owner of the firm command. Wooshin. I stared in horror at the screen as I saw Lisa walk towards it. "But-" I tried arguing but Wooshin pressed his palms in mine in a firm yet comforting way. "It won't sense anything. She's safe." My eyes shifted towards the screen to find her walking through the metal detector with no inconvenience. Lisa shot a smile at the guard and walked towards the receptionist confidently and repeated the sentence boldly. "Oh! Ms. Manoban. Please follow me. I'll take you to Mr. Kim right away."

I could feel my nerves increase every second as I watched her stand in the elevator. And the doors opened, revealing a lavish and huge corridor, in which they walked through and towards a door. The lady knocked on the door twice before a voice was heard through it, giving her the permission to step inside.

Lisa followed the lady inside, and I could finally see the man sitting behind the huge desk inside the equally huge office. He was wearing a fancy suit, quite unsuitable to be called an office attire, but no one could question him, I guess. "Mr. Kim. Ms. Manoban is here to meet you. " The said guy lifted his eyes from his computer to Lisa and I felt his eyes rake her body, giving me shivers through my own spine. "I know him." Jisoo said, through her microphone. "He was the one who barged into our neighborhood with a few men. He was wearing a mask then, but I'm sure it was him." Everyone started discussing in a rush, while the guy dismissed the receptionist and looked at Lisa expectantly. "Um..umm I-"

Ah... shit! She was nervous.

"Everyone! silent! Lisa, calm down. He doesn't know you. Do as we rehearsed." The camera started to move towards the table, meaning she started walking. "Good Morning, Mr. Kim. I'm here for the interview." I felt his eyes scan every feature of Lisa's face before he smiled.

"Lalisa Manoban, am I right? I'm Kim Jae Hwan. Please take a seat. You are very beautiful in person, I must say." She thanked him politely. "Your dear father Mr. Manoban had contacted me yesterday, in the evening, informing me about your interest in working in my company. I was very surprised. I must say, at the same time, we didn't have any job offers open. But for a beautiful lady like you, I would like to hire you very much." Lisa handed him her documents and he started reading through it carefully.

"He is trying to hit on her." Jin said in disgust. "It's good, she should play along." Jungkook's voice came. She should? We had less than two weeks' time and I guess this is the best thing to do. "Lisa. Play dumb." I said.The camera tilted a bit sideways and I guess she was leaning in her seat, legs crossed in front of her, she eased herself. "Ms. Lalisa, if I may call you that. It seems like you have no prior experience in any company. I understand you are still very young, but it will be very hard for me to find you a good position here." I smiled. We had seen this coming. Seokjin and Chanyeol had listed down all the possible questions that might be directed towards her, and this was one of them.

"I understand there are no official records of my prior experience in this field. But during my time back in South Korea, I worked in the Manoban Industries as a substitute for my father for almost 3 years." The interview continued on, with all the questions as expected. A few more minutes later. "I think that's all I have to ask of you Lalisa. You are appointed as my personal assistant as of now, till other positions are opened.
