Upon waking up, Jackson had felt for a moment as if he was still in his dorm room. That it was all a dream. However when he moved, a sudden wave of pain fell upon Jackson. It started from his chest, a stabbing sensation going through him coming out of his back. It was only then he realized that it was no dream and slowly remembered the events from however long ago.
He let the pain subside before even attempting to get back up again. He propped himself on his elbows and looked around his surrounding for any sign of the Decidueye or Team rocket grunts but to no avail. He falls back to the ground with a grunt. The cruel realization creeped into his mind that he let them suffer a terrible fate that he couldn't stop. Jackson laid there in defeat until he heard a snap in one of the bushes. His eyes dart in that direction as he tenses up, anticipating a deadly Pokémon to kill him, or worse... the grunts coming back to finish the job.
Jackson ignores the aches and pains and slowly begins to stand up. His heart races in preparation to run for his life, he doesn't know where but to just run. The rustling sounds became louder after some more shaking from the bush, out came a simple Bulbasaur. Jack loosens up a bit knowing that for the most part its harmless... hopefully. He walks up to the Bulbasaur to ask if he has a trainer nearby, maybe someone who can help. From what he theorized is that most pokemon knew what humans are saying and usually respond by actions. Worst case, it's wild and will just run away, best case the trainer is probably nearby and not part of Team Gut Punchers
Jackson crouches down with one hand outstretched towards the pokemon, in what he hopes is the universally known 'I am completely harmless and chill guy' gesture. He discovers that is not the case when the Bulbasaur shoots him a glare that he didn't think a tiny creature can convey
"You better back up if you know what's good for you," the creature growled.
The voice is what caught Jack off guard. He actually heard and understood what this Pokemon just said. The freaky part is that it sounded like a kid.
Jackson threw himself backward, the momentum causing him to fall down with a yelp. The Bulbasaur looked at him curiously and took a step forward.
"What are you-"
Jackson gave a less than dignifying scream, Bulbasaur jumped back with a scream of it's—his own.
"WHAT ARE YOU!?" Jackson exclaimed
"WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU!?" Bulbasaur responded with a yell of his own.
A few seconds passed with the both of them catching their breath. Jackson was busy trying to make sense of the situation. When has a Pokemon had an actual conversation with human people? Okay, there was in those movies so it isn't entirely impossible. But the Bulbasaur in front of him looked normal, it shouldn't be able to form words like him.
"Do you understand me?"
Jackson glanced at the source of the voice. The Bulbasaur had an expression he couldn't quite read but still seemed as tense as him.
"I...guess..." Jack responded.
That seemed to cause a change in the atmosphere. All of a sudden the Bulbasaur that originally seemed like it was going to bite his hand off was jumping around him like a puppy in a kiddie pool. Bulbasaur seemed to feel excited that he found a special human with an ability like no other. Apparently he also thought that humans don't really have the 'gift' to communicate with Pokemon in such a way. Jackson also thinks that having this ability will probably prove very useful later.
It became apparent the adrenaline wore off, he felt the pain again and grunts as he falls to his side. Bulbasaur stops bouncing around and worriedly sits in front of him. Jackson turns to his stomach and pushes himself up with his hands. As he got up he makes his way to sit on fallen tree trunk, the Bulbasaur trailing after him in silence. Jackson goes over in his head on what to do now, he decides to start a conversation with the Pokémon.
