This is a comedy oneshot set in the time period of Rameses and Moses's time together as teens. It was partially inspired by the interactions with Hotep and Huy; which suggested to me that they had a long-term rivalry with the princes. Maybe ever since childhood? I do not own anything belonging to the Prince of Egypt film at all; the credit for story and characters goes to the creators! This particular oneshot was requested by ELROart (Deviantart username). I hope that you guys like it! 👍

At the southern edge of the Temple of Osiris's outer garden, Memphis ...

It was a beautiful spring morning in Memphis ... one of the best ever, its inhabitants said. The Egyptian sun shone proudly down over the capital city of ancient Egypt, lighting up all of the magnificent temples and statues of the gods.

A fairly strong breeze had cooled things down though; enough that many of the city-folk were out, enjoying the good weather. So were a certain duo of royal princes.

Moses and Rameses, both well-built teenagers, were strolling along the southern edge of the Temple of Osiris's outer garden together. The southern part had lots of flowers, beautifully sculpted water features, and bordered the Nile.

The garden itself was a private, mostly fenced-in area; almost nobody allowed in ... except if you were a royal or a priest. Rameses suddenly plunked himself down under a shady tree on the river bank, and let out a sigh of relief.

"Thank Ra, we got out of there, Moses!" the older teenage boy said to his brother, who was leaning against the aforementioned tree. "If I had to listen to one more second of Hotep and Huy wittering on about the 'ancient traditions' and 'expectations' ..."

Rameses rambled on, gesturing with his hands at the emphasised words. Moses snickered and rolled his eyes playfully.

"Yeah, my brain was going moldy in there! Those priests are the most boring teachers in the whole world!" he agreed. The young prince suddenly paused for thought.

"Hey, do you think that those two have realised that we're gone yet?" Moses asked, raising an eyebrow at his older brother. Rameses frowned thoughtfully for a few seconds, and then shook his head firmly.

"Nah! Doubt it, those priests have probably gone into one of their stupid 'song-and-dance' routines again", Rameses quipped, smirking. "Those things go on for ages, don't they?"

Moses chuckled, and nodded at that. Hotep and Huy DID have a tendency to go into impromptu, dramatic musical numbers whenever they wanted to be dramatic ... which was 95% of the time!

"Yeah, they won't notice until they've finished ... which means more free time for us, eh?" the younger teenager said, waving away a few flies from his face.

Moses grinned at his brother, clearly not caring about any potential scolding to come. Rameses's face broke into a bigger grin at the idea.

"Yep!" he said, equally uncaring about that. Then the older teen's face suddenly fell, turning into a troubled expression.

"The only problem is that I'm a bit stumped on what to do", Rameses admitted quietly, his face flushing. Moses patted his brother on the back, smiling reassuringly.

"Anything you particularly want to do this morning?" the crown prince asked him. The adopted brother thought for a moment.

"Swimming?" he offered, gesturing to the temple pools in the distance. Rameses immediately shook his head in the negative.

"Nah, they'd spot us pretty quickly that way!" he said. "How about senet?" Now it was Moses's turn to shake his head ... HARD.

"Oh no, not that!" he declined vehemently, frowning at his brother. "The last time we played; you cheated!" Moses pointed an accusing finger at Rameses's face, which reddened considerably with anger.
