When I walk out of my room the next morning Max is cooking up something.
"What are you making?" I ask as I stretch and yawn.
"Eggs." He says looking over and smiling.
"Cool."
"I need your help with something." He says.
"Okay?" I say confused.
"I want to take Lydia somewhere romantic, but I don't know where. Is there a place you would recommend?" He asks as he gives me some eggs.
"Lydia really likes this one restaurant in the city. I'll send you the information." I say pulling out my phone.
"Oh crap! I start work today! I completely forgot!" I say running to my room.
I quickly get dressed and run out to my car. I can't be late for my right day.

When I get home I'm exhausted.
"How was the first day?" Lydia asks from the couch.
"I don't know. What I expected, but still not what I want to do forever." I say slumping down next to her.
"It's not forever. They took your book, right?" She says pulling me into a hug.
"Yeah and criticized every part of it." I say pulling a stack of papers out of my purse.
"It'll get better."
I can tell she's trying to make light of the situation. I wish I hadn't quit my last job. I was doing so well, and making lots of progress.
"It'll be fine." I say throwing off my heels.
"What are we watching?"
"Friends." Lydia says with a smile.
The rest of the night I spent watching Friends with Lydia, and trying to fill my brain with any other thought than my book failing. I couldn't fall asleep. I felt like such a failure for them hating my writing. Maybe I'll never make it as a writer.
