Andy's POV
Andy fades in and out to the sound of beeping machines. He thinks he can hear voices, but is unsure what they're saying. When he is out, all he can think about is Blaine. During the brief moments when he is awake, he is too out of it to even remember his own name. He doesn't remember what happened and does not know where he is. He remembers the name Blaine, but is unsure who it belongs to.
When Andy finally tries to open his eyes, everything is out of focus. He realizes that having his eyes open is giving him a horrible headache, so he closes them again as he passes back out. The next time Andy wakes up, he can hear arguing coming from outside the room. The voices are too muffled for Andy to make anything out, but he's certain it's about him.
He hears a voice plead, "You have to let me see him. He's my best friend."
"I'm sorry, sir, but only family is allowed in."
"That's fucked up."
"I'm sorry sir." Andy realizes that the first voice sounds familiar but can't place it. Who does it belong to? Suddenly, a sharp pain shoots through Andy's back, causing him to moan and uncomfortably stir in his bed. The sudden pain causes his heart rate to go up, and the beeping becomes rapid. A doctor and two nurses quickly rushed into the room. The door was left propped open slightly. Andy could see the face of a boy worriedly peering through the doorway.
After checking a few of the monitors, the doctor looks over at the nurses. "He's fine, just experiencing some pain now that he is conscious." It doesn't take long for Andy to realize that this is one voices he heard coming from outside of the room. The doctor and nurses left the room, as a woman entered just seconds later.
"How are you feeling?" the woman asked Andy, as she gently ran her hand over the top of his head.
"I... I've felt better," Andy winces.
"Blaine is waiting outside.""Blaine... Blaine?" Andy repeats to himself, trying to place the name. It sounds familiar, but not.
"Yeah, Blaine, your best friend? Do you not remember?"
"No, should I?" Andy gives the woman a confused look.
"Never mind that," she waves her hand as if to clear the whiteboard of previous thoughts. "Do you know who I am?"
"You look really familiar," Andy squints his eyes while he tries to remember, but it causes him to wince from the pain.
"Don't try too hard. They really need to give you some medicine for the pain. Anyway, I'm your mother."
"Oh," realization spreads across Andy's face. He thinks for a moment, "can you tell me who I am?"
"You're Andy, my son." Andy moves his head in an attempted nod of understanding.
"So, where's my dad?" His mom moves uncomfortably.
"Your father died when you were young, but I got remarried." Andy nods and says nothing else.
After some silence, his mom opens the door and tells someone to come into the room. The boy who enters is the same one that he saw standing in the doorway. Reluctantly, the boy comes in and sits down on the edge of Andy's hospital bed. He clearly looks out of place.
"Hey Andy, glad to see you're alive."
"Um thanks? I'm sorry you seem to know me, but I don't know you."
"Oh. I'm Blaine. Your best friend."
"I still don't know you, sorry." The boy looks at Andy's "mom" and they exchange a worried look. She then slinks out of the room and disappears. After a few moments of awkward silence, she walks back in with the doctor.
