Paul stood his ground.

Then stay away from her

"We can't do that. We go to the same school as her, so it's virtually impossible" Edward reasoned. Jared growled.

Then avoid her

Edward told them what he said. "No way in hell" Alice scoffed. Paul and Jared growled. "Funny that Paul is so mad. He didn't want to imprint" Edward figures. That caught Paul off guard. Alice laughed cynically. "And yet you're so adamant about keeping us away from her" Jasper narrowed his eyes. "You don't even want her" Rosalie just loved being mean to them. Paul's growl turned into a whimper. He quickly went back to snarling. "It's hurting you to be away from her and yet you still won't tuck your tail and go back to her because you don't want her" Edward continued. Jared growled.

Sam was hearing all that they were saying. It didn't bother him so much, but it just gave him another reason to hate the cold ones.

"Jake, it's late. I need to go home" y/n's voice cut Sam from the pack mind. "Okay, you give the directions, loca" Jacob quipped.

Alice grinned when Edward informed that y/n was going home. "Hah! Our territory, dogs" she went back to bubbly and easygoing.

Then the standoff came to a close.

I got up with a yawn, popping my back and getting up. My 'aunt' came in the room and got my laundry. "Good morning. I'm just grabbing laundry, breakfast is on the table" it was eerily robotic, the way she talked to me.

After eating and driving to school, I bee-line it to the photo processing room. It was a dimly lit room with two long rows of tables, lined with bins of liquid and what seemed to be a clothesline over top. Then the image printers in the front of the room. There were 2 doors. The one out in the hallway and the one that blocked all light from coming into the room.

I got to work. It took just a bit of time, but soon 4 x 4 squares of images were hung and dripping while I just sat and waited. "Well, well, well, I thought I'd smelled you on the reserve yesterday" a voice cuts into the silence. "Hello, who- excuse me, what are you" I sigh. "So you aren't fully human" another one asked. "Ah, so there's more than one here, intriguing" I couldn't see well in the red light, but three figures registered in my line of sight. "Well, what are you" a feminine voice asked. "We should probably talk when I can actually see you." I felt one suddenly behind me, right in my ear. "Now where's the fun in that" he asked. "Rhetorical or not, I don't feel obliged to that question" I tell him. He's back with the other 2. "I don't like games, beastly thing" I scoff. "Call me James" he said. "I'm Victoria" the female said. One came right up to me. He grabbed my hand quite gently and I could vaguely make out his appearance and his striking red eyes. "Laurent, at your service, darling" he kissed the back of my hand. (Laurent is heavily underrated. I <3 him sm)

"We will leave, for now. Do keep yourself safe, little birdie" he tells me. And as he said, he left. For now.

Almost half an hour later, the photos were developed and dry. I slid them into a new album, titled 'semester one: Friends and Forks, Washington'.

The day goes by and I'm in the lunch room after a handful of classes. Alice sees me and walks over. Once she was right in front of me she paused. She abruptly hugged me and greeted me. She looked happy, but I could tell she was upset. I sat with the group and Rosalie started a conversation. I showed her my new photos and a couple of my older ones. Alice and her kept making intense moments of eye contact. I didn't much care for it.

Meanwhile...

"Paul? Why do you hate imprinting?" Jared asked. "It takes away freedom and forces us to be happy about it" Paul said as calmly as he could.

"But our imprint... she's really sweet." Jared reasoned. "Yeah, but now all I think about is her. I can't hook up with anyone without thinking about her. I get cold feet if I even think about going out with another woman. It's frustrating!" Paul groaned. "Personally I think it's an okay arrangement. I mean, pretty girl, she's nice, and understanding about most things so she might not freak out when we tell her" Jared shrugged. "That's the thing. It's an arranged relationship. We don't get a choice and it's so not fair. We're forced to fall in love because our spirit tells us to" Paul continued.

"I understand. Really, I do. I mean, at least she's not crazy, or a baby(there I said it, bite me). It could be worse... she also smells really nice" Jared relaxed his shoulders. "... gross, man" Paul have him an incredulous look. "Hey, dude, I have an enhanced sense of smell, we all do" Jared smacked Paul's shoulder. "Way to point that out, captain obvious" Paul chuckled.
