Chapter 5

Hurricane

Miles returned after the call. The three of us went silent as if an angel has passed by. She threw her phone on my bed and sat down beside Selena.

"What's with the silent atmosphere?" she asked with a confused look.

"Ang tagal mo e, naubusan na kami ng pag-uusapan hindi ka pa rin nakakabalik haha." biglang saad ni Selena na siyang muntik ng ikatawa ni Trisha.

"Plastik mo, be! Binabad-mouth ka talaga niyan ni Selena kaya bigla kami natahimik pagbalik mo." aniya at humagalpak ng tawa.

"Hahahaha, oo tama. Sabi ko pabaliktad ka humiga sa kama kapag natutulog." napipilitang dagdag ni Selena at sinamaan nang tingin si Trisha.

"Tsk. Whatever, Tara inom." anyaya ni Miles bago tumayo at hinila kami isa isa.

Taka ko naman siyang tiningnan dahil hindi siya yung tipong magyayayang uminom nang walang mabigat na dahilan.

"Hoy, gaga ka! Kaiinom lang natin kagabi, iinom na naman tayo ngayon? Pagka-aga aga alak nasa isip mo. Mukha lang akong bad influence pero hindi, kaya tara na! " maingay na saad ni Trisha at malakas akong hinampas. 

"H-hoy seryoso ba?" litong tanong ko dahil hindi pa humuhupa ang hangover ko mula sa alak kagabi.

"BUWHAHAHA patola ka talaga, Eury!" tawa nilang tatlo kaya't sinimangutan ko nalang sila.

If it's not because of my hangover, I will throw these three out of my house.

"Anyways, let us sleep muna here ha? Bitin tulog namin kasi curious talaga kami sa mystery hot guy mo kagabi. At since nandito na kami sa bahay mo, dito nalang kami magssleep over, hihi." ani Selena at humiga na sa aking kama.

"You can sleep here anytime you want, pero may pupuntahan ako ngayong araw. Okay lang ba kayo ditong tatlo?" nag-aalalang tanong ko.

"Oo naman, bes! Ako na ang bahala sa dalawang 'to. Ingat ka kung saan ka mang lupalop pupunta."

"A'right. I'll just get ready. Magpahinga na kayo diyan." I dismissed.

I was waiting for a taxi when I suddenly received a call from my mom.
 
"Hello, ma?" sagot ko at pinara na ang taxi-ng dumating.

"Manong sa Margarita's Co. po." saad ko na tinanguan naman ni manong driver.

"Yes, ma? Ano ulit 'yon?" turan kong muli.

"Sabi ko anak, kailan ka ba makakauwi dito sa'tin? Nagtatampo na Ang Papá mo sa'yo at namimiss ka na rin ng lola mo." hindi nakaligtas sa akin ang malalim na buntong hininga niya.

"I'm waiting for my boss' update pa, ma e. I promise to visit you once he came back here in Quezon, 'kay? Tell papá and abuela that I miss them so much. I'll be there when you least expect it. I love you, ma!"

"Okay, okay. I'll tell them. Don't skip your meals, Hurricane. Please make sure you prioritize yourself, anak. See you soon. Dalhan mo na rin ako ng apo, ha." aniya at natawa sa sariling tinuran.

"Ma, naman." natatawang sagot ko.

"Biro lang, basta ingat lagi. I must see you in one piece. Bye. Love you, nak." she said and ended the call.

We always had a short conversation like this since my work here in Quezon is no joke. I'm always busy with Mr. Levis' company as he doesn't have someone to trust in the firm except me. And if it's not because of his company, the Margarita's flower and wine business is the one who makes me entirely busy.

Margarita's Co. is owned by my cousin. She's been busy figuring things out, which is why I'm here to look after her business. I do love flowers, making it more the reason why I  enjoy being busy with them.

The smell of the flowers calms me down and immediately put a smile on my face.

"Good morning, ma'am!" bungad ni Kate, my cousin's assistant.

"Good morning, Kate! Any updates?" agarang tanong ko at nilibot ang paningin sa mga bulaklak.

Oh, tulips and roses. How I'm being reminded of lovely memories.

"More and more clients are coming by each day, ma'am. Bigger companies even want Margarita's to render flower and wine product and service to them during their special business events." saad niya.

"Really? That's nice, just keep track of the business whenever I'm out of reach, 'kay?" pakisuyo ko sa kaniya at nagtanong kung mayroon bang naging problema noong mga nakaraang araw.

"Oh, one more thing. Please inform our staffs that we will be having a brief meeting this coming Friday. I'll send you the details. Thank you, Kate!" turan ko at tuluyan nang nagpaalam.

Bago pa man makaalis ay nagring ang telepono ng shop na siya namang sinagot ni Kate.

"Uhmm. Yes sir? This is Margarita's Wine's and Flower Co., How can I help you?"

Binigyan ko siya ng simpleng ngiti at sumenyas na aalis na.

"Ay, ma'am. The caller wants to talk to you raw po. Kilala niyo raw po siya?" nahihiyang aniya.

Kunot noo akong lumapit sa counter at kinuha ang tawag.

"This is Hurricane Martini, speaking. May I know who could this be?"

"Hurricane! What a great timing. You're not answering the office's telephone and so I tried to reach you in margarita's. I have something important to tell you that It can't be said tomorrow." mahabang litanya ng aking magaling na boss.

"You can call me on my cellphone number, sir if you can't reach me in the firm. Paano mo nga pala nalaman na nandito ako sa margarita's? I've never told you any single detail about my other work, eh?" nagtatakang tanong ko.

"Woah, wait wait. I'll tell you about it one by one. First, I just found out today, as in today that you're also working in that company during your day off and holidays. Second, my fiancé is the owner of that firm. And third, you're invited in our wedding. We'll be back next week, and you may take your vacation leave once everything's settled. How nice, right? HAHAHA" sunod sunod at mabilis na saad niya. Tila ba nagra-rap sa sobrang bilis at tila baliw na tumatawa.

I actually had an idea about my cousin's boyfriend but I never thought my hunch will be just right.

Think about being a madam auring.

"Good thing you'll be back, and bad thing you'll be married to my cousin. Good luck, sir!" saad ko at tumawa nang pagkalakas.

"Tsk. Whatever. Anyways, are you still going out with that asshole boyfriend of yours? If not, I knew someone respectable who could be your perfect boyfriend." malokong saad niya. Naiimagine kong tinataas baba niya Ang kaniyang mga kilay habang sinasabi niya iyon.

"Sir, I have a boyfriend, 'kay? Kung kani-kanino mo nalang ako nirereto. What if siraan kita sa pinsan ko, matuloy kaya ang kasal ha?" pagbabanta ko sa kaniya bago ibaba ang telepono.

Ngiting wagi naman ako dahil alam kong maasar nanaman at magooverthink ang magaling kong boss.

Nevertheless, I approved of him for my cousin. Based on my boss' and cousin's lovelife rants, I really do think they are perfectly fit for each other.

I hope that...that kind of love goes the same for Josh and I.
