« So... » Gadget mumbles as she chews on her pencil, snapping Chip out of his thoughts and reading. « We know that the attacker is the same for all victims and that it is the Magnelectrifier. We also know that all the victims had a connection with Dale so we can assume that it has something to do with his disappearance. »
« We know that the little guy was doing everything to revive the Rescue Rangers even if these jobs weren't very glorious. » Monty then adds that Chip notices he's been crying and wipes his cheeks. « He bought back all our costumes from the show, which cost him a small fortune. Do you think he could have alienated creditors? » the mustached mouse suddenly gets worried.
« I doubt. » Chip responds by looking up from the diary, puzzling his friends. « Dale wrote down each time he picked up a costume. The last one is mine, and that was already about ten years ago. »
« So there's something else that forced Dale to take this job as a dancer. » Gadget mumbles. « And I'd bet my hand that it had to do with that clinic thing he was supposed to go to the night he disappeared. »
« But how do we find out which clinic he was in? » Monty mutters before Chip continues to flip through the back pages of the diary looking for clues. « Have you seen the number of clinics in Los Angeles? »
« Not that many for the Toons. » the chipmunk mutters, rather caught up in the reading.
Dale had noted there explanations about the CGI surgery that he recovered during his many exchanges with Baloo... but why had he taken this information? It remained rather vague as if Dale didn't want to be precise in his writings. As if he was afraid that it would bring him bad luck...
« How do you know that? » Gadget is surprised, definitely making him look up from his reading.
Sighing, he closes the diary. He could finish analyzing that later.
« I work in insurance, Gadget. » Chip explains as he joins his friends. « There isn't a single clinic in town that doesn't have insurance to prevent medical errors or problems with their devices or simply to cover their employees. Afterwards, they don't all take out insurance with the agency where I work, but as soon as a clinic becomes our client, we find out about others of the same type in order to be able to canvas and offer them what the competitors don't offer. »
« And so? » Monty is surprised, a little lost by this commercial language.
« As a result, I have already had to help a department head of a Toon clinic to ensure his establishment. It was two or three years ago I think... and when I inquired about his activity, I saw that there were maybe 6 clinics which specialized in cosmetic operations concerning Toons. And since Dale talks about his looks, that's probably the kind of clinic he's been to. »
« And you would have access to the names of these clinics? » Gadget asks with a smile.
The chipmunk thinks then shrugs.
