The ground squished underneath your feet as you walked on the circus grounds.
Looking around for the distinct red hair of your boyfriends in the crowd. You were supposed to meet at the end of all the different carnival games but with the crowds so big it was hard to walk to the end.  As I get slowly closer to the end of the path I see a a flash of red hair walking towards me and I cut through the crowd right towards it. Jerome turns towards me and smiles. 

" You finally arrived! Welcome to the show,"

You laughed at his stupid joke and he put his hand out for you to grab it. You accepted his offer  and took his hand in yours.

"So why here instead of going to your trailer or getting food?"

He looked at you with his stupid dumb grin and slowly lead you towards the carnival games.

" I thought we could do something more exciting then  just go out to eat or hang out"

He said with a making
a more loving big smile. You smiled back as you came to a small ring toss game. You rolled your eyes knowing that these are the most rigged games at carnivals , but Jerome bee lined towards it.
"Uh how are you supposed to pay for this?"

You said in a playful tone as you smiled at him and raised your eyebrows.
He laughed in response.

"Remember my uh mom,"

He said with a angry and sad tone

"She works here,"

He continued

"So I get discounts on food and can play the games for mostly free"

I nodded my head at that not wanting to bring up his mom because he doesn't like to talk about her and I don't like to either.
I've never met her because we don't want to risk her knowing that Jerome is dating a guy because she already treats him like shit and we don't want that to be worse.

Jerome quickly got 3 rings from the man who was running the stand. He looked back at me and said with a dumb witty tone,

"If I win what prize you want?"

I smirked back at him and said,

"What prize do you want when I win?"

We gorged laughed at that and Jerome gave me 1 ring and gave himself 2. I gave him a fake angry look and quickly added

" I need more chances to win"

I rolled my eyes as he threw the first ring and it missed. He gave an upset look and then threw the next and missed again. I turned to him and gave a quick smile to let him know that it was ok he didn't win me anything. He smiled back in response and gestured his hand towards the game.

"Give it your best try"

I gave him a quick smirk and turned to the game. I focused on one ring right in front of me and threw the ring.  It landed on the bottle and went down the top of it.

" ha look who won"
I said mockingly but playful. Jerome looked back at me and laughed.

"Yea look who did!"

He looked happy that I won even though I know he wanted to win me something.

"So what one do you want?"

He thought about that for a minute inspecting all the different prizes. Then he focused on 1 of them.  It was a little raccoon stuffie. He pointed at it and excitedly exclaimed ,

"That one!"

My face started to warm as he knew raccoons were my favorite animal.
The man grabbed the plushie and gave it to him.  He looked down at it with a super cute and very happy smile. He looked back at me and made the same smile. I grabbed his face and kissed him on the forehead. He gave a little laughed at that and we walked down the path of all the other carnival games.
