he looks and sees the sands of time

falling once again

he wishes he could realign

her dreams but there's no chance

and if he looks up to the sky

he can still see her starry eyes

watching the sunset on that night

but now there's nothing he can do to bring her back

she's on her way to somewhere, and he's no longer in her life

and he would give a thousand years for just one single day

to have her in his arms again, but the sands still sink away

and he can smell her perfume in the air

just for a moment, he closes his eyes and she is there

but nothing he can do will change the way that fate has gone

not even another message left on her cell phone

yet he dreams of the impossible for that is all he knows

and if the sands of time would fall back to the way things used to be

he could tell her what he's feeling now, and maybe she would finally see

she looks and sees the sands of time

drifting in the wind

she wishes she could just rewind

her life to what had been

and if she looks up to the sky

she can see his sparkling eyes

watching her drive away that night

and now there's nothing left to do but to come back

he's bound to still be waiting there, and she can't get him off her mind

and she would trade a million days for just a moment gained

to run into his arms again, and the sands pause in their place

and he can smell her perfume in the air

just in a second, he opens his eyes and she is there

and something that he did changed the way that she had gone

just a simple message left on her cell phone

and his dreams of the improbable have now become the truth

since the sands of time have been so kind

as to favor friendship true
