Our lips moved in unison. My girlfriend's hands on my hips. Today was the day. I thought Hangman or Rooster would've been chosen, but they weren't. Instead, Maverick chose me.

"I just wanted you to know..that, baby, you the best," says Phoenix as I look down. She has her red dress on tonight. Standing in the dark in the pale moonlight. Her hair is down for once, and it looks good.

"Come back to me, y/c/s," she says, making you look back at her, "please."

"Shit- H-Honey, I'm on fire, I feel it everywhere.." you rush out in the plane, flames starting to consume your area. Phoenix was with the rear admiral, listening to you. "..nothing scares me anymore.." you say before your line fades to static and they lose your location.

"Y/C/S IS DOWN, I REPEAT, Y/C/S IS DOWN," Rooster yells.

With that, Phoenix collapses to the ground, overwhelmed.

*PHOENIX POV*

You woke up in a white room. You look around, nothing. You look down at your clothes, all white. You look up and see a figure in the distance, it's y/c/s. You don't waste any time before you start sprinting towards them, only to realize you weren't moving. Within a second, y/c/s practically teleports to you.

They put a hand on your cheek, giving you a sympathetic look. Their touch burns, it burns a lot. You try to move away but you're locked in place.

They put their other hand on your other cheek, the pain doubling. You feel the tears threaten to leak from your eyes but you push them back.

"Honey, im on fire," y/c/s says as they take their hands off of your face, replacing them with your own, " I feel it everywhere." They look away from you and towards a door.

"Nothing scares me anymore."

As I neared the door, I stop. I knew I had to leave but I couldn't, I wouldn't.

"I think I'll miss you forever," Phoenix starts, "like the stars miss the sun in the mornin' sky.."

"Later's better than never," you reply. "It's not your time, my love, wake up.." you say as you finally walk through the door, everything fading to white behind you.
