Chapter 8: Tenebrae

(New Bodhum)(Lightning P.O.V)

We were waiting for Cor to get back to us, meanwhile we were constantly mapping out our surroundings, Noctis and I learned that our world were called Eos and Pulse, so we decided to name this new world for ourselves, we named it Gaea. We also learned that Lucis wasn't far from Oerba, and that Cocoon's crystal pillar housed the Lucis crystal, which made it indestructible. Hope learned that the magic came from both of our worlds, and our magic returned through that forest that Noel and Serah found a couple of days ago. I was getting close to nighttime and I was prepared to rest, but I heard a knock on the door, "What?" I asked, "It's Noct, I wanna talk" he said, my mind wandered, what would Noct want at a time like this? I soon got dressed into my pyjamas, I usually sleep in my underwear since the sun is boiling during this time of year. 

When I got to the door, I saw Noct looking at his phone, "What is it?" I asked crankily, "Whoa, not a night owl are you?" Noct asked, "You think?" I responded, I soon sat next to Noct on the couch in the compound, "You okay?" I asked, he looked at me all worried, "A little, Ardyn's never stayed away this long" he said, "Why do you say that?" I asked, "Ardyn's always went above and beyond to get what he wants, he must be planning something" Noct said, "I'd rather not worry about that, you might keep someone up" I said passive aggressively as I went to go to my room, but we were interrupted by Noct's phone, "It's Cor!" he whisper yelled, he answered the phone, "Yeah?" he asked, I couldn't tell what Cor was saying, "Lightning's with me" he said, I looked at him confused "Okay" he said and put it on speaker phone, "I have news, Iris is okay, but I couldn't get in contact with Aranea" Cor said, "What?" Noct asked, "Why?" I asked, "I don't know, but there's something else, Lunafreya is alive" he said, Noct nearly fainted, "How is that possible, Noct told me she died" I said, "None of us know, but Luna said she's got something to tell you, I'll put her on" Cor said.

After a few seconds we heard a female voice, she sounded calm and just like an angel or goddess, when Noct heard that voice his face changed from shocked to relieved, "Noctis?" the voice asked, "Luna, thank god you're okay" Noct said, "Yes, but I am no longer the oracle, I'm just a noblewoman" Luna explained, "Okay then, what've you got to tell us?" I asked, "You must be this Lightning I keep hearing about, I'm Lunafreya Nox Fleuret, but you can call me Luna, any friend of Noct's is a friend of mine" she said, "Wait, you're not angry?" I asked, "Hehehe, Noct and I were betrothed that's true, but that is long gone, and I share no anger with those that don't deserve it" Luna said, she really is nice. "Okay then, what is it you wanted to say" Noct said to his former fiancee. "Ardyn has traces of a power I have never seen before, it's completely dark, and even beyond my knowledge" Luna said, I looked at Noct out of concern, it was clear that she was one of his closest friends and still is. "Okay, we'll let the others know, we're still waiting for Noel and Serah to get back from Cocoon, we're trying to get reinforcements from there" I explained, "Is that the giant Planetoid I see?" Luna asked, "Yeah, its a whole new world up there, things have changed Luna" Noct said, "Definitely so, it is best that I connect with you in the morning, we all need rest if this threat that Cor tells me is as dangerous as he says" Luna said, "Amen" I said and yawned.

After Luna hung up, Noct walked over to me, "Oh man, things are crazy, he said flopping down on my bed, "It's a new world, we both have things to learn" I said flopping down next to him, soon we fell asleep next to each other. I started to dream, I saw myself back in Valhalla, I was fighting Caius, and Snow when he was the patron of Yusnaan. I woke up with a start, as I looked beside me to see if Noct was awake, Noct was shedding tears, he seemed to be having a dream of his own, "Noct" I said shaking him, he woke up with a start, "What happened?" he asked, "Relax you were just having a nightmare" I said, "Jesus, hearing about Luna must've brought it back" he said and flopped down, "What was it?" I asked, "Luna, when she died she contacted me, saying to look to the distance, and she wished me farewell" Noct said looking at the ring he was wearing, he started crying and I soon hugged him, as gently as I could since he was clearly hurting, "Hey, it's okay" I said in his shoulder, "Thanks Light" he said and we fell asleep again.
