Steven and Ashley were laughing in the corner, and pointing at me.

I slowly stood up and walked over to them. "Do we have a problem here?"

Steven shook his head. "No man. There no problem."

"What did you do to April?" I demanded, and crossed my arms.
Even though she obviously didn't want my company, I felt like I had to protect her.
I was a new kid once myself and I know how hard it is to fit in, especially in highschool.

"We just put her in her place." Ashley held onto Stevens arm, and caressed it gently.
Just like everyone I've ever known, she had my best friend wrapped around her finger.

"Give her a chance. She needs friends." I protested.

Ashley shook her head. "Not happening."

I looked at Steven. He had to back me up, he had to.
But yet, he didn't.

He left me there, not helping me.

I felt my anger rising. "Steven? Can I talk to you?"

He whispered something in the devils ear, laughed and came to me.

"Tyler, kid. It's not a big deal. So? We bullied her a little. Survival of the fittest man."

My eyes widened and i pushed my hair out of my eyes. "You have got to be kidding me."

He shrugged. "What are you going to do about it Ty?"

I bawled my hands into fists.
I hated bullies, especially if it was my best friend. This was something I couldn't stand for.

I looked into the traitors eyes.
He seemed to be begging me to understand as he occasionally glanced back at Ashley.

I grit my teeth. "Fine. If you won't do the right thing, I will. I am going to protect her, whether you are going to help me or not."

"He's not." Ashley called, and looked at her perfectly manicured nailed.

I turned around and walked away.
A pain filled my chest.
Is this what it felt like to loose someone id counted on my whole life?

A season, a reason, a life time.

Maybe he was just a season.
