We were sitting in the Watchtower conference room when Roy sighed. I know exactly what he’s thinking.
“Everything I thought I knew about myself was a lie. I’m not a hero, or a sidekick; I’m a traitor, a pawn.” He said.
“Roy—” I tried as I reached for his hand, but he interrupted me.
“I’m not Roy.” He said. “I don’t know what I am. All I know is I need to find the real Roy. I need to rescue Speedy.”
“Then let us help you.” I replied. “You can’t do it all on your own.”
“Guardian is searching Cadmus.” Batman said. “He hasn’t found him, but if he’s there you’ll know.”
Roy nodded and stood, making his way towards the exit. I followed and repeatedly called after him. We were in the main room when he finally turned around. He pulled me close and kissed me passionately and of course I kissed back.
“I love you.” He said as soon as our lips parted. “Don’t ever forget that. I’ll be in touch.”
With that he turned around and left without telling me where he was going and leaving me wondering if I’m ever gonna see him again.
