One Day... A Jegulus Story

Chapter 5

**huge time skip cuz I'm lazy**

Before they knew it, weeks had gone by and it was October 15th. All Hallows Eve was the only holiday Regulus tolerated and was even more excited now that he knew he didn't have to spend it at 12 Grimmauld Place with his abusive parents.
The reason Regulus liked Halloween is because it was the only holiday a year where muggles appreciated magic and got to experience it instead of getting scared of something they don't understand and distinguishing it.

"Only 1 week left until I get to spend the half-term holidays with my blood and not blood brother." Sirius thought, smiling down at his cereal at breakfast in the Great Hall.
"Padfoot?" Remus said, tapping him on the shoulder. "I love that you're happy amd excited but it may be a good idea to eat your cereal rather than looking like you're going to kiss it. I mean, I'm getting jealous here!"
Remus chuckled and so did the rest of the group. "Yeah, yeah. Very funny Remus. Now Prongs..." Sirius said, a smirk forming on his lips. He checked to see if anyone else was listening before turning to James and continuing, "It's think it's time to openly address, ✨️situation Regulus✨️"
"Oh yeah? And what exactly is situation Regulus?" James asked, trying to act oblivious. Sirius just rolled his eyes and was about to speak when Lily decided to chip in, "Oh come off it James!"
"Yeah, we all know you like him!" added Marlene. "True, you made that very clear on the train here in September. Lils spilled all the tea to me." Dorcas said grinning.
"Wha-?" James was very confused and was about to protest but came to the conclusion that if they knew, then they knew. There's nothing he could do about it and they may even be of help. "Okay fine. Yeah I like him." James said before burying his head in his hands "What do I do?" He mumbled. Sirius cackled sinisterly and smirked, "Operation Regulus has begun..."
"Okay guys..." began Remus trying to distract himself from the laughing at the strange face his boyfriend was pulling, "meet in our dormitory at...I don't know...11:30 tonight?" Everyone agreed.
"Oh and someone let Frank amd Alice know, I'm pretty sure they're out doing all there totally secret couple stuff right now." Said James as they all finished up breakfast and got ready to go to class. Remus and Peter had Arithmency while James and Sirius had Muggle Studies on the second floor.

Both James and Sirius could navigate the moving staircase quite well but they still made it to Muggle Studies five minutes late. Once there Professor had finished lecturing them about punctuality, the pair sat down together at a desk listening (well, pretending to listen) to the task that was being given to them. The lesson went smoothly, well apart from the occasional teasing looks amd comments from Sirius regarding James' crush. About halfway through the lesson their was a knock on the door. The professor opened the door and in walked Regulus Black. Regulus immediately made eye contact with James and immediately regretted it, as he felt his cheeks slowly turn red. "Erm I-" he managed, looking from James' surprised look, to Sirius' smirking face and then back to the professor, who was wearing an incredibly confused expression. "Yes Mister Black..?" She said.
"Oh yeah uh. I have been sent to..to..get some textbooks." Regulus stuttered. His eyes flicking back amd forth between the professor and James, getting more and more nervous. "Which textbooks?" The professor asked. "I - erm, six copies of Home Life and Social Habits of British Muggles"
Regulus was handed the books and gave James an awkward half smile before blushing deeply and leaving when his smile was returned with a bright grin from James.
For the rest of the day Sirius and James didn't listen during any of their lessons, they were too busy discussing the encounter with Regulus and what it meant.
Finally the school day was over and the Marauders and their friends were in the Great Hall for dinner. "All I'm saying, is that I'd never seen him that way before!" Said Sirius. "Yeah, yeah. I get that but I didn't make him like that. I really don't think he likes me." Sighed James.
"Yeah you're right. He doesn't like you. He LOVES you. I mean, he's in love with you. Its plain to see." Sirius exclaimed. James just rolled his eyes, "Sure." he said.
"Don't worry mate, I'll prove it to ya." Sirius said.
Throughout dinner, the friends talked about various things like how annoying the divination professor is and how DADA is such a good subject. When Frank and Alice turned up, they asked why they were all going to meet so late in the Marauders dormitory but James just laughed and said he'd explain later.
Dinner was soon over and the Great Hall was eventually empty as the houses were relaxing back in their common rooms. Meanwhile, in a certain Slytherin dormitory, Regulus was contemplating telling his new friends/dorm mates about his feelings for Potter. 'Not Caius' Regulus reminded himself. He had discovered a few weeks ago that Caius was not to be trusted. He had the dark mark. He must be one of the youngest to ever have it. Only just twelve years old. He's too deep into the world of the deatheater to be pulled out. Barty and Evan though, he could tell them.
As if by fate, the two boys suddenly entered the room. "Hey," said Regulus, "Can we talk?"
"Sure mate," said Barty while him and Evan sat on the end of Regulus' bed. "Well," he said, growing more nervous, "What do you guys think of two boys liking eachother?" Regulus asked and was surprised when Barty chuckled a little. "Well, considering I'm bisexual, I'm definitely okay with it." He said. "Yeah, and I'm gay." Said Evan.
"Hmm," Barty said, "It's that Gryffindor boy, isn't it? The one friends with your brother. Potter, is it?" Regulus flushed bright red and nodded, "Yeah, Potter. James Potter."
"Great! You're crushing on someone who's actually obsessed with you too! Congrats!" Said Evan merrily. "What?" Regulus replied.
"I mean, he's always gaping at you in the Great Hall, he blushes when you say his name and he always is desperate to hang out with you." Evan explained chuckling.
"No...I don't think so." Regulus sighed. Barty and Evan just laughed at how oblivious their friend really was.

A few hours later in the Marauders dorm
*11:30 pm to be exact*

James, Sirius, Remus and Peter were sat on the floor in the middle of there room watching all their friends file in through the door. Five minutes later, everyone had showed up and were sat in a circle on the floor. Remus, Peter, James, Sirius, Lily, Mary, Frank, Alice, Dorcas and Marlene.
"Was this really necessary, Padfoot?" Said James, visibly embarrassed. "Yes Prongs. Extremely necessary. You know? Seeing as you have a fat crush on my baby brother!" exclaimed Sirius. "Oh that's why we're here!" Said Alice giggling.
"Yeah! No one told us! That's cool though. I didn't know you were gay." Added Frank.
"I'm Pan actually but yeah,"
"Cool"
"Sorry to interrupt but...let's get started!" announced Sirius. "Okay so what's the plan for all this operation Regulus business?" Asked Dorcas. "Well so everyone knows me and Reg are going to James' house for the half-term. Right Prongs?" James nodded amd Sirius continued, "So, I can leave the house for some reason while Mr and Mrs Potter are away because they work during holidays sometimes. Then James...kiss him."
"What?! Said James, "You want me to kiss your brother! He doesn't even like me back!" Everyone laughed and shouted "HE DOES!" in unison.
"So it's settled." Said Mary, "You're gonna kiss him during half-term?"
"Oh dear God..." James muttered under his breath before answering, "Oh, I don't know. Maybe? Yeah? No? I don't know...probably."
"Haha, okay" Mary smiled. Suddenly Frank did a very prominent, very fake, cough. Everyone turned their attention to him, "By the way, me and Alice are together."
"Really?! No way! I never even knew." Said Dorcas sarcastically. "Me and Marlene saw you snogging by the Black Lake!"
Marlene nodded amd laughed before saying, "Me and Dorcas are together too"
"Called it!" Exclaimed Peter, "That's 2 galleons to me Sirius!"
"Me and Mary too!" Chuckled Lily, excited to finally share her news. "Ha! I knew it! I'll have those 2 galleons back Wormy!" Sirius cried.
The group laughed amd chattered until 2am when everyone went to bed. James dreaming of Regulus, and Regulus in his dorm dreaming of James.
