The next morning couldn't come around faster. Daniella had found herself tossing in her sleep thinking about the day ahead.
Her eyes fluttered open to the greeting of the San Diego sun and a sigh fell through her lips.
She wasn't lengthy getting dressed tho she found herself struggling to find the appropriate ware to observe pilots' training.
Eventually finding an outfit reasonably suitable which contended of jeans and a little black satin top.
She emerged from the room her mum had offered her out in the 'hard deck'. When she swung open the door her eyes were met with the sight of her youthful mother and the captain she'd encountered yesterday.
"Mom, Mav." She beamed at the two as she strolled passed them to make herself a daybreak coffee.
"Morning honey, where you off to today?" Her mother gleamed at her causing Dani to suddenly feel nervous. Mav glanced at her curiously at her change in tone.
"Uh, I think I'm going down to training with Bradley." She stammered out hiding her words in her gulps of coffee. She knew it probably wasn't allowed and feared pressure of Maverick telling her 'no'.
"But your not a pilot, Is she allowed to do that?" Penny questioned the strange answer.
"I don't think so but I'm sure we can make an exception." He smiled in Dani's direction in compromise.
"Thanks, Mav." She smiled running her hands through her hair as she finished her warm beverage.
"Are you heading down now?" Maverick asked Dani, she nodded as she cleaned her empty mug and dried it on a nearby rag.
"I can drive you down if you want." He graciously offered and Daniella smiled in acceptance.
"Well, we better hurry or we going to be late." Maverick's lips found themselves peaking a sudden kiss on Penny's cheek as he hurried to leave, a rush of heat fanning over Penny's face at the action.
"Bye, Dani." Her mother's voice comes out shakey at Maverick's kiss, Daniella couldn't help but smile at her mom's happiness.
The drive to the base was uneasy and words struggled to fill the space. Music was turned up louder to patch in for the lack of talking.
"I love this song." Dani fibbed, the awkwardness in the car made her words come out in whatever form they wanted, just to plug the silence.
Mav ignored her statement and sighed, his words suddenly emerging seriously.
"Your boyfriend doesn't like me very much, does he?" Pete suddenly asked rhetorically, the unexpected question caused Dani to suck in a gasp. She knew exactly who he was referring to.
"Bradshaws not my boyfriend," Daniella declared firmly, a hint of irritation bubbling in her voice. Maverick's eyes moved to her as he noticed her change in mood.
"He's not even my friend, and no. He's not your biggest fan." Daniella finished, her gaze set on the road.
"Can you blame him? Pulling his papers? that's low." She spat out, her eyes averting out the side window as she chewed on her cheek.
"He wasn't ready." Pete attempted to explain, guilt bleeding over his words.
"Bull shit," She grumbles out, the car falling back into silence. Dani's harsh tones made her feel regretful and a lump rose in her throat.
"He'll get over, Pete." She promised softly.
"Yeah." Maverick didn't seem so sure.
The pair pulled up to the base. Army planes and vans circled her eyes. The sound of rummaging engines ran through her ears as she followed Mav into the building.
Daniella smiled at the thunder of chatters coming closer as they got to one of the training rooms. Pete entered first and Dani pondered in nervously behind.
"Dani?" Phoenix called in surprise as she walked towards the girl and halted her into her embrace.
"Hey Daniella, What are you doing here?" Coyote questioned as Phoenix let her go, a smile appearing on both their faces.
"To watch." Dani chuckled to the group of pilots as they kindly greeted her.
"Bob." Dani waved in the skittish flyer and he send her a shy smile.
"Hi, gorgeous," Jake's voice loaded Danis's ears, her eyes rolling at his intolerable tone.
"You're never going to give up, huh?" She spat back sarcastically.
"Absolutely not." He sneered with a wink as he played with a short wooden stick in between his teeth.
"Give it a rest, Jake." Phoenix shook her head pulling Dani to the other side of the room to get her away from Hangman.
"Daniella?" The stunned voice of Bradley Bradshaw suffocated her Dani's thoughts. Phoenix send her friend a wink as she fled, leaving the two standing alone.
"Still breathing, Chicken?" Daniella bit at him, her manner sounding flat. Her eyes roamed his body in full NAVY uniform looking tender and formal, packed in all the correct places.
"Only for you." Rooster smirked down at Dani, her hands glued firmly on her hips as she stood under him. His face gleamed at her beauty.
"So, you came?" Bradley smiled towards Daniella's presence in front of him.
"Nope, she faked it, sorry dude." Jake's sarcastic voice chimed into the conversation as he patted the shoulder of Rooster whilst strutting passed. A sharp snicker left Danis lips and Bradley's eyes darted towards her.
"Dont encourage him." Rooster shadowed over her, his unimpressed tone made her hold back her laugh.
"You two done? trainings starting." Fanboy nodded towards them as the group began to walk into a new room filled with chairs and a large screen.
Maverick appeared and was quick and strict as he described the lesson. The team seemed concerned but eager. Dani didn't really understand the mission but it didn't help when she couldn't take her eyes off of the pilot sitting next to her.
Bradley's side profile was admirable, his wavy locks falling flawlessly into place. Freckles shadowed over the bridge of his nose and his jaw line clenched as the irritating words fell out of Pete's lips.
Daniella suddenly pulled away when she felt other eyes on her face, she turned to her left to find Nat and Bob staring proudly at her. Phoenix's eyebrows rose in suspicion. Dani's cheeks grew red knowing she'd been caught admiring the man.
"Not a word." Dani mouthed in embarrassment to the glaring brunette. Nat and Bob both held their hands up in defence as they chuckled to each other.
