It was another long day for Shin.
One full of photoshoots that had the model advertising clothing brands and cosmetics.. And just showing himself as Japan's greatest.
He was a major influencer after all and practically everyone knew him.
A confident male who was very proud of his appearance and rightfully so.
With friends, Shin put forth a smug, overconfident and cocky persona. One that was commonly known of and consistently jabbed at by a particular ravenette with a similar front, but beloved nevertheless.
As a result of his pride and the need to feel relevant, Shin often overworked himself.
Overworked in the sense that he would go in, day in and day out, without eating much or necessarily caring for his wellbeing much.
Even when his legs were shaking and he was on the edge of passing out, the model pushed himself to his absolute limits.
When asked if he was alright, it was always the same answer of "I'm fine.."
Insistent that it was nothing and that he felt great.
To be truthful, Shin felt worse and worse as the days went on.
Why? He couldn't quite put a finger on it.
Shin kept his façade up as to not worry anyone. It would be a bother after all.
It didn't go unnoticed by his partner, Akemi, when he came home though.
Akemi and Shin had been partners for years now, with the former knowing the latter much more than anyone else. She was startlingly sharp and sensitive to the emotions of her loved ones.. Shin was no exception.
As soon as Shin entered through the front doors of the mansion they shared, Akemi sat up from the couch.
They had been taking a break from cleaning via reading a book and got up with her usual smile.
"Welcome home, Shin.." Akemi said, bounding up to the model as he closed he door. "How was your been?"
Shin smiled back at them softly. He was always happy to see Akemi. "It was good 'Kemi.."
"That's great! It wasn't too much work today was it?" He questioned Shin, keeping his green eyes on the model's.
A subtle pause before Shin responded. "Don't worry 'Kemi, I'm fine.. It wasn't anything too hard, just some photoshoots.."
Akemi's happy expression dropped at his answer. They knew something was wrong.
"..Have you been staying hydrated..?" Her tone went from excitable to concerned. "..Have you eaten at all today..?"
"Yeah, 'course.." That was a lie. He felt too unwell to bother doing either of those today. He was terribly dehydrated and hungry.
"..Shin." They weren't buying it at all, stepped forward and held his hand carefully in her own. "..What's wrong..?"
"N-nothin' Akemi.. Really, I'm fine." Shin looked at the other and attempted to reassure her. "I'm just a little tired but it's not a big deal.."
"It *is* a big deal, Shin. You know how I feel about your mental health.." Akemi murmured, holding his hand tighter.
"Akemi-" Shin started but he cut him off.
"Please.." Akemi spoke softly, his eyes brimming with emotion. "..Please.. Just be honest with me.."
Shin averted his gaze and sighed. He couldn't hide anything from Akemi, she could read him like a book.
"..'M not feeling all that great.." He admitted. "I'm.. Really tired. And.. I feel awful.."
"Hey, hey.." Akemi spoke to the model in a gentle tone of voice. "..It's okay to not feel good.. Come here.."
They pulled Shin into a hug.
Shin didn't realize just how much he needed it and hugged his partner back tightly.
He was shaking and he was so, so tired.
"It's okay now.. It's okay. We don't have to talk about it now, but I promise it'll be alright." He ran his free hand through Shin's hair while keeping the model close with his other arm.
Shin buried his face in Akemi's chest, feeling tears well in his eyes as they continued to speak.
"..Let it out.. I'm here for you." She continued, now running her hand up and down his back. "I know crying isn't your favorite thing to do, but I can tell you really need it. It's okay to be vulnerable.. It's just us now.. You don't have to be the public perception of Shin Katsuro.. Just be human and let yourself feel."
Shin stifled his sobs as a few tears ran down his cheeks and gradually, more cascaded down his face.
Akemi rocked back and forth with Shin slowly, keeping him in their warm embrace the whole time.
They patiently waited for Shin to get his emotions out.
After about half an hour of crying and comfort, Shin had gradually run out of energy and fell asleep.
He was out like a light and didn't stir in the slightest as Akemi hoisted him onto her back and carried him to his room.
Once inside, he put Shin to rest on his bed and tucked him in.
Akemi wiped her partner's face of tears, kissed his forehead and crossed over to the door where they entered from earlier.
He glanced back at his sleeping boyfriend and spoke. "Rest well, my love.. I'll see you soon."
The lights flicked off and Akemi left Shin to get his well deserved rest.
