Chapter 25

Note
This is a flashback chapter, it will show just a snippet
of yn's childhood upbringing, and also talks about her 'family' and past trauma. The flashback is caused by yn witnessing the squad's deaths from the previous chapter. I am more than willing to answer any questions you might have, but if it's confusing, don't worry because it is supposed to be :)

Disclaimer
I didn't want to split the flashback chapter into two chapters, so this is gonna be like 3500+ words, so I will add a halfway mark in the chapter so that if you don't like reading particularly long chapters you can take a break before reading the second half.

A throw away child.

That was what society had called children without parents. Garbage. A disgrace.

yn didn't remember much about her parents, not like she wanted to. They left her. That was all she ever knew and all anyone told her since a young child.

As the early morning sun blinded yn's eyes, she slowly sat up from her futon and walked to the light source. She stood looking out a large glass-stained window, her heterochromia eyes watching as a young woman dragged a stubborn child back to the building by his collar.

The woman had large tangerine eyes and light blonde hair tied loosely into a long yet simple braid that just reached the back of her ankles, with the end of the braid tied into a large mint-green ribbon. Her feet were bare -having just woken up from a deep sleep- and she was still in her light orange jinbei, her usual cheerful smile having a slightly irritated scowl as she spoke inaudible words to the boy she was dragging.

The small boy she was dragging, who gripped onto the back of her jinbei pants tightly in fear (if there is a proper word for jinbei pants, pls tell me) had short cherry-red hair and charcoal eyes, with a small tanned birthmark on his cheekbone under his right eye. He wore a plain, oversized dark grey jinbei that hung over his hands and feet since it was too big, causing him to trip on his pants and fall behind the woman.

"yn!" a bright voice cooed behind the said girl, causing her to flinch violently at the action of the bright girl's sudden appearance. "Whatcha doing?"

"Itoka..." yn said, acknowledging the girl's presence behind her after being startled. The girl had tyrian-shaded eyes, matching coloured knee-length hair, messy from jumping out of her futon and a plain dark grey jinbei.

When Itoka noticed that yn still wasn't answering, she went to the window she was looking out of herself and chuckled at the sight.

"Akio tried to run away again didn't he?" she asked. yn just nodded, causing her to laugh more.

"Why does he keep running away?" a bored voice from the far side of the room, causing both girls by the window to turn their heads at the voice belonging to a strict fair-haired older girl still sitting on her futon."It's not like Mimo is a monster, she's the one that saved all of us, so he should be grateful."
