Coming For The Crown

Thirteen

We finished the ballroom completely late last night; I did not go to sleep until in the moon was high in the sky. "Darling, I know we did not go to sleep until late, but we still have to wake early." I hear my mother's voice; I still have my eyes closed hoping I could sleep more. I roll over and slowly open my eyes at my mother. I let my eyes adjust before sitting up and rubbing the sleep away.

I look to see my mother sitting on the right of me, I smile at her. She smiles before standing up, "I will send in your maids in a minute, but may I see your dress for tonight?" I nod my head knowing that I didn't have a choice. The reason why is because the queen as has to tell the princess if the dress is not appropriate or something else. I walk into my closet and go over to my mirror which as my dress hanging on the corner. My mother stops behind me as I point to the dress.

I can see in the mirror my mother is surprised by the drees I chose; she has her mouth open, and her eyes widen. My mother walks up to the dress, she puts her hands over her mouth. I watch as she touches the cloth and the mesh, I think she is picturing me in it. "Oh, my sweet it will look exquisite on you. I know it will." My mother says while looking at me, I feel like it would fit better if I had curves.

My mother walks over to me, smiles at me, then gives me a hug all before leaving. I rub my eyes again and go into the bathroom. I turn on the water and put soap, flower petals, and some crystals to the water before getting in. I hear footsteps in my room, "I'm in the bath!" I yell knowing it's my maids. My head maid Seraphina Brighton, I take a good look at her.

Seraphina looks for fuller on the face then normal and she looks like she has added a few pounds. Will I say anything to her? Heavens no. I smile at her, her and I have grown up together. She was deciding as my head maid because of our age being so close, she is only 2 months older than me. "I will be right out of the bath; my dress is hanging on my mirror. " I say, she nods and heads to my closet. I get out of the bath and grab my towel; I wrap it around my body before walking out.

She is waiting for me. She is holding a hairbrush while standing behind a chair. I sit down the towel still warp around me. She starts to brush me hair, "Girls!" she hollers at the other maids. I watch as one comes in holding a make-up brush. Two others come in, they look at the dress I picked and walked out. They guess they are getting the jewelry and items.

I let them go at work on me, they have been doing this my whole life. I trust them to make me pretty for tonight. The maid that came in with the brushes keeps moving my head while Seraphina keeps trying to fix my hair. The ball doesn't start until sunset, but people usually get here early hoping to see the king and queen.

I don't know long I sat there letting the lady's put make-up on me, doing my hair. Then put my dress on me, add all the jewelry and other items on me. When they are finish, they spin me around to look in the mirror. I am wearing a floral tierra which has emerald gems in the middle all the way around with little flower that are sliver and green gem. My eyeshadow has brown on the outer layer and turned to dark green on my actually eye lid, my lashes were standing out, my lips were a nude color, and I even have on glitter on my cheeks. My dress just brought all together; it looked very fitting on me.

I look outside and see that it is almost sunset. I quickly pick up my dress and speed walk to the staircase where everyone is meeting at. I don't have time; I was supposed to be there almost an hour ago. Me waking up late made me off. I see my mother looking for me in front of the doors to the stairs we go down to the ballroom, we call the staircase our secret one because no one knows the door we come from or anything; they only know we come down the staircase.

Mother sees me and quickly opens the door for me, I speed walk in mother right behind me. I am out of breath due to the corset I am wearing when I get in the room. My father walks over to me and grabs my hand. "I'm sorry, I didn't notice the time." I say after catching my breathe for a second. My father nods his head, "It's fine, we all only got here five minutes ago." father laughs at that.

I stand up straight, take one last deep breathe before looking at everyone in the room. There was my father and mother, Harvey and his parents, lastly Elliot and his father. Elliot was looking outside, while is father was glaring at him. Harvey was wearing a black tux with a red tie. His shirt was a lighter red, very light red. His mother and father were wearing their kingdom's colors, which were Red and silver. My parents were wearing out kingdom's colors as well, Dark Green and Black. Elliot was wearing a wearing a dark blue tux with a light blue tie, his shirt was white. His father was wearing his kingdom's colors are a medium dark blue and grey.

I watch as Elliot's father walks over to Elliot, Elliot looks at his father with anger. I wonder where is mother is. I look at my parents, and smile. Are parents will walk us down then they drop us off at the podium before finding their thrones. We which have our own space, I will have to give my speech first since they are here in my kingdom, then Harley will go, and lastly Elliot. "Everyone ready?" My father asks, everyone says yes. My mother and father take my arms under theirs and we start to walk. I turn my head to see Harvey and his parents do the same, while Elliot and his father don't even look like they want to touch each other.

I turn my head back around and focuses on walking down the stair, I carefully walk down each step getting closer and closer to the ballroom. I could hear the talking and mutter happening, "Everyone the kings and queens!" a guard yells shutting everyone up. I take a deep breath as I see the entrance in view. "You got this, darling." My mother whispers and my father squeeze my arm.

We walk into the light of the ballroom; I squint my eyes, then open them again and see all people here and everything I had done for the past week done and ready. I walk with my arms until we get to the podium, my mother and father let go of my arms and walk to their thrones. Harvey's parents did the same thing, then Elliot's father didn't even walk with his son all the way. He stops midway with him, then walked away.

I am standing behind the podium, I take a deep breathe before stepping up to the podium. "I want to start by saying thank you everyone for coming. My family, the royal, hope you enjoy the food, beverages, and the night. For everyone that does not know, I am Eleanor Gupta. I am the second child and the first daughter of the king and queen of Lonaetha Moor Falls Kingdom. I have been raised to be a princess, but I watched my brother. I have watched and taught myself how to be a good ruler. I could never say perfect because no one will ever be perfect. We all make mistakes; I know I will. This is why I want you, everyone, to join me in my time of ruling. I want to do this by let you join my council. I want to bring the concerns of the town to the table- help us, help you." I hear people gasping and muttering all around. I know what I'm doing as never been done, but I'm tired of the towns people never having a say.

My father knows this is what I want to do, this is what I have wanted for this to happened. "Thank you for listening and I hope you will sever with me when I do become queen." I finish my speech; I nod my head to everyone. Some are muttering still; I understand this is new and unlike the royals. I turn around then let out a breath before smiling. I walk to my parents who are both smiling for me.  

Next was Harvey, his speech was a normal speech. No one gasped or started to mutter a lot like mine. If anything, some were yawning. After Harvey, Elliot came up and gave his speech. Everyone was clapping at the end of this speech; he had talked about his time as a single dad and a prince in his speech. He left off with a quote, 'If you regret the past, you regret the present and future' truly a powerful quote to live by. 

I am dancing with Jonah right now. Everyone is waltzing around us; I am looking around. I want to dance with my boyfriend, Harvey.  I don't see him anywhere. I see Elliot dancing with someone - but no Harvey. The song finishes, we curtsy are goodbyes. If Harvey is not in here, he has to be outside.  I start to walk to the balcony; I have a feeling he is going to be here.  I hear footsteps behind me, I turn around to see Elliot with a worried face. "Please don't go out there." He says to me before turning away from me. He thinks I'm going to listen to him after he hurt me, ha funny. 

I roll my eyes and walk over to the door. I look out the door, the minute I do the world pauses. No, this can't be real. Someone is just messing with me, that's all. This is just some joke... I can't lie to myself. This is no joke, that is real.
