" The Yule Ball has been a tradition of the Tri-Wizard Tournamnet since its inception, on the 22nd, right before Christmas night we and our guest gather in the great hall for a night of well mannered frivolity, as many of you are representatives of the host school I expect each and every one of you to put your best foot forward, and I mean this because, the Yule Ball is first and furmost, a dance. " Rain sat calmly with her legs crossed and hands rested on the them but the moment Professor Mcgonagall had mentioned the dance she let out an audibly groan while the rest of the girls around her began to whisper excitedly. She seemed like the only girl there that didn't seem too keen of the idea, the boys sat across from them weren't too thrilled either.

" Silence. Now to dance is to let the body breathe, inside every girl a secret smaller slumbers longing to burst off and take flight. Inside every boy a lordly lion prepared to prance, Mr. Weasley. " Professor Mcgonagall had walked toward Ronald Weasley, the younger brother of the Weasley twins ans Harry's best friend. Ron lowered his head in embaressment. " Will you join me please? " She forced him to snap up and he did so willingly. " Now place your right hand on my waist. " Rain's lips lifted as she watched his eyes dart around the room. " Where? "

" My waist. Now extend your arm. Mr. Filtch if you please? " The music began to play. " 1, 2, 3. 1,2,3. " They waltzed around the room. The twins in the corner began to smile and tease the younger. " Now everyone come together! Boys on your feet! " The girls shot up, well everyone but Rain. She was just as hesitant to stand as the boys. They all hesitantly followed. She looked around, watching many of the girls partner up with the boys on the opposite side. " I'll ask her. "

" No Georgie I will. She'll say yes to me. "

" No, she likes me more. Did you see the way she smiled at me today? "

" That was at me. Look, she's just standing there all alone. "

The twins were arguing quietly to one another from the wall they stood by, trying to chose which one of them world ask the girl to dance. " Care to dance with me? " She almost jumped at Cedric who appeared right in front of her, his hand displayed out for her to take. She did, slowly. He pulled her close and extended a hand around her waist. " The twins fancy you. " She looked over at Fred and George. " Look you took to long you dingus. She has a partner! "

" We can dance together? " She tried to hide her laugh at the two who were in fact walzing with eachother while her and Cedric were swaying back and forth. " You know champions can't bring other champions, I would've asked you to the ball. " She looked back at Cedric, her smile faded and turned into a thrownback expression.

The music stopped and so did everyone else who pulled apart. " See you around Rain. " He smiled, pulling away and turning his back towards her.

" Why do they travel in packs and how are you supposed to get one of them on their own to ask them? " Harry and Ron walked by a group of girls awkwardly. " Blimey Harry. You defeated a dragon. If you can't get a date who can? "

" I think I'd take the dragon right now. " They stopped in the middle of the courtyard. " There's one girl who's never traveled in a pact like that, I would've asked her. " They watched her from the other side of the courtyard talking to Blaise Zabini. " But she's another champion. "

" Blimey, isn't she a bit of a nutter? She has a screw loose, no? " Harry furrowed his eyebrows and puffed out his bottom lip into a pout. " Don't talk about her like that Ron. " Ron scanned the Beauxbatons champion. " I think Fred and George have a crush on her, she's all they talk about these days. "

" You have to take a date Rain, it's only traditon. " Fleur watched Madam Maxime tug braids into Rain's hair. " I don't want to go. " She hissed at the harsh tug of her mother, pulling her hair to get her attention. " You're going darling, you have to represent the Beauxbatons champions. " Rain rolled her eyes. " That's what Fleur is for. " She pulled her hair again. " You both are attending and bringing dates, boy or girl if you have to. I'll pick a date for you myself if It comes to that. " Rain grimaced, hissing again at the tight pull at her hair to finish off the Dutch braids that were often forced into her hair.

" Now get a move on girl, I will not let my daughter go to this Yule Ball alone. "
