Chapter 12

Rain stood pacing around the grand staircase outside the Gryffindor common room. She waited and waited for the golden trio to emerge to wish them goodbye before she left for the rest of the break. She happened to grow close to Harry and didn't like the thought of leaving without a goodbye. Unfortunately for her, she's never been inside the Gryffindor common room. Let alone knowing the password to get inside. In the painting, the singing fat lady refused to let her inside and watched her smugly as Rain sat outside with her arms crossed and her cheeks puffed out. However, after a long wait, she found the Weasley Twins walking up the staircase towards her, shoving chocolates into their mouths and laughing at one another. " Rain drop, what brings you to this part of the castle? " All of the classes were on the secondary part of the castle, this was where the common rooms were mostly located. 

" I wanted to wish you lot goodbye before I head to the Hogwarts Express. Your obnoxious painting won't let me inside your common room. " Rain made sure the painting heard, the fat lady huffed at the girl. " You're not a member of Gryffindor house! " She berated. " But she is a guest, don't be rude. " Fred smugly smiled at the painting who huffed as George said the door password. " Caput Draconis. " The painting slowly opened, the fat lady rolling her eyes as she did so. " So Raindrop. Heading home to family or having a secret lover we don't know about? You Mummy is here so where ya heading for Christmas? " Fred slipped an arm around her shoulder and smirked playfully at her. " I'm going to a Christmas party with Draco's family. " Fred quickly moved away, putting a hand on his chest as if she had just betrayed him.

" The Malfoy's? Why would you do that to yourself Rainy? " George butted in, Fred stood on her left and George on her right, both standing straight across from one another and staring down at her with grimaces. " Draco's Mum invited me, some of the other Slytherins would be there. I didn't want to go at first but Theo told me it'd be fun, Blaise said so too and now I'm nervous. Should I be worried? "

"Extremely. "
" Worried. "

The two finished Rain gulped, she couldn't help but fidget with the sleeves of her sweater and shuffle her feet. " They're not going to like you Rainy. " Her face fell, and her worries increased. She noticed the way the Gryffindor's completed contradicted all the relieving things the Slytherin's said. Now she was stuck in the middle. " I know, I know how those purebloods can be and I don't know if I belong- "

" Lucius is really who you have to worry about, Rain. " Harry emerged from the male dormitories, his bag slung over his shoulder and his trunk of belongings dragging behind him. " My train is in an hour. I can't just cancel. "

" Well if you get uncomfortable- "
" Our family is throwing a New Years party "
" Mum will be delighted to meet you "

The twins had an act for finishing each other sentences. She looked at both of them. Harry beamed at the thought. " I don't want to intrude. " Harry dropped his bag quickly, cutting her off. " Molly would love to have you! I go to Christmas every year and New Year's too. The Weasley's for the holidays is a fantastic idea Rain. " She hesitated. " I can't just leave Draco. It would be rude to leave halfway because I feel uncomfortable, my mum taught me better than that. "

" The invitation stands regardless of whether you come or not. We just wanted to make sure you know it's there if you need it. " George finished, her lips lifting the tiniest bit. " Thank you. It means a lot that you all are worried about me. "

" Rain? What on earth are you doing in our common room? I wasn't aware outsiders were allowed in here. " Hermione came bouncing down the stairs of the girl's dormitory. "Your guard dog picture frame didn't know either. " Fred snorted. "I came to say goodbye before I catch my train. Believe we'll be catching different trains. "

" I have a Christmas gift for you, actually, " Harry suddenly said. He leaned down to his bag and began to dig inside. He searched for a split second before taking out a small purple sack. He smiled proudly as he handed it over. " Merry Christmas, Rain. "

" Harry I didn't get you anything. " She hesitated to take the bag but Harry forced it into her hands. " I remember you mentioned you liked sweets. On my last trip to Hogsmeade, I picked up a few things from Honeydukes, I hope you like them. "

" Thank you. That's sweet of you. " Harry's cheeks slowly flushed red, he stepped back, stuffing his hands in the pocket of his trousers. Rain scanned the contents in the sack. " Not fair Harry! " The twins whined in unison. " We didn't get you anything Rain Drop. "

" Don't worry about it guys, you've already done so much for me. "

" Rainy, isn't your train boarding soon? "

" Merlin I forgot! "
