(R-2's P.O.V): At night...
Completing my training while I was in the process of modifying my sniper rifle in my room. I carefully added the silencer to the right side, I was immersed in the sounds of Linkin Park when Decoe interrupted me with the news that Dr. Eggman urgently requested my presence.
Channeling my rage into the punching bag, initially threw rapid punches to signal my disinterest in seeing him but I then slowed down, because my knuckles were bleeding through my gloves.
A growl escaped my lips as I made my way to the medbay, where Dr. Eggman was being tended to by Cubot, bandaged around his large stomach and with casts on his arms to prevent any fractures. Just thinking about it brings a smile to my face:
"What is it?" I continue, sounding a lot colder than last time, "Can you see I was busy fixing my snipers? And besides, when am I going to go out?" "Patience, R-2!" He yelled, and I rolled my eyes before crossing my arms while I heard him continue, "Speaking of the outside world, you aren't ready to leave this island until you are ready! Now Decoe and Bocoe will stay studying with you the entire day."
I let out a frustrated sigh, the kind that echoed through the sterile walls of the medbay, "Studying? Really? You think reading a bunch of books, and DVDs is going to prepare me for the real world?" My voice dripped with sarcasm, and I could see Cubot flinch slightly at my tone.
Dr. Eggman adjusted his goggles, his face a blend of irritation and determination. "Yes, R-2, knowledge is power! You might be good with that rifle, but without grasping the tactics and strategies, you'll be dead before you can even pull the trigger."
I clenched my fists, pain in my knuckles reminding me of my frustration. "What do you know about the outside world anymore?" I shot back. "Enough of your complaints; go to your room!" "Fine, I don't need you to repeat yourself." I quickly shut my door, groaning in frustration at his excuses like: *this is Rei (R-2)'s room*
'You aren't ready' or 'You need to study more, just like the last Ultimate Lifeform.'
I was already irritated, yet I followed his orders. I sighed and lay down on my bed to sleep, but when I relaxed my fists, a sharp pain shot through my knuckles. Noticing they were bleeding, I tiredly got up and headed to the bathroom for the first aid kit.
Oh forgot to mention, unlike the last Ultimate Lifeform, I have no healing abilities, which came a shocking discovery to Dr. Eggman, he hated that I was weak but what he didn't know was the part that when I used Chaos Control often, it can leave me bruises, scars or worse, death.
I need to thank the robots for keeping my training injuries a secret; otherwise, I'd be sent to the terrifying, colorless isolation room. As I rubbed alcohol on my knuckles, I hissed in pain and decided to run a bath before considering anything reckless again.
It was then that the idea of sneaking out of the lab and heading to the city struck me. I concealed my excitement, as I had never been outside the base before, and this was a perfect opportunity to explore. After finishing my shower, I quickly dressed in my usual clothes and slipped on my silver rings. I easily unlocked my room, stepped out, and locked it again behind me.
Sooner than that, I sped off in stealth mode (something I picked up from ninja movies) went to the open window near Dr. Robotnik's office, and slipped out before floating down to the sand: 'Wow...the sand is much softer than I thought.' I thought, 'I better check out the city.'
In a matter of seconds, I made it to the other side of the island where a city of lights glowed from the windows which made my night magical: "So, this is Station Square city? Huh, not bad at night time." I quietly told myself before walking around the closed stores until I spotted a store with motorcycles, I instantly took out my cellphone to take a picture of it, in case I wanted to buy it one day.
Then I left and got ready to run back to the Island, but out of nowhere, someone bumped into me and we both fell on the ground with a groan.
(Narrator's POV):
Both speedsters groaned from the sudden impact, shaking their heads in confusion at what they had collided with. R-2 was the first to speak:
"Who are you?"
Her light blue eyes widened as she took in the sight of a Mobian with blue fur, green eyes, and a beige muzzle—reminiscent of a hedgehog. The Mobian shook off his daze and replied with a smirk, "I'm Sonic. You just crashed into the fastest thing alive."
R-2 blinked in surprise. "Wait, Sonic? Like, THE Sonic?" She glanced at her companion, who looked equally stunned. Sonic chuckled, exuding confidence despite the situation. "Yeah, that's me. Heard of my exploits?" He stood tall, flexing as if to highlight his prowess.
Rei assessed him, wondering, 'Is he my enemy? He doesn't seem inclined to harm me. Maybe Eggman is wrong.' She gave Sonic an unimpressed look, blowing a strand of her quill from her eye. Noticing her expression, she nervously said, "Um...sorry, but I don't watch TV often."
Sonic feigned shock. "What? You know who I am and yet you haven't seen what I do to protect the city?"
"Pretty much," she shrugged. Before Sonic could ask anything more, an alarm rang—Eggman was on his way. "Shit, I gotta go! Nice knowing you!"
"Hey, wait!" Rei dashed away, Sonic hot on her heels. Aware of Sonic's fear of water, she sprinted toward the beach. Halfway there, Sonic panicked, skidding to a halt and sighing with relief.
"That was close! But I forgot to ask her name!" He facepalmed and then headed back to Chris's mansion to share the story with the gang in the morning.
