Sleeping peacefully in my room, I heard the door slide open as a tired groan escaped my lips that I instantly recognized my creator's voice, "R-2~, please look who decided to join us!" I took a peek from my blanket at Bocoe, Decoe, Dr. Eggman, and an unfamiliar Batwoman.
She had white fur, tan skin that matched her muzzle, turquoise eyes, and a slender but voluptuous physique. She has large pointy ears, two medium-length eyelashes on each eye, a small black nose on her muzzle, a short pointy tail, and a pair of dark purple wings on her back. Only her head appears to have fur, which flares out into six points at the back.
As for her makeup, she wore blue eyeshadow and pink lipstick. Her attire consists of a black, skintight, sleeveless unitard with a pink heart-shaped chest plate with white trim, long white gloves, and high-heeled boots with pink cuffs. Her boots also have gray soles and feature pink hearts on the toes.
"R-2, meet Rogue the Bat!" Eggman introduces her to me, I propped myself up on my elbows, trying to shake off the grogginess while drinking in the sight of Rogue the Bat, "Oh, and R-2, I also thought you could give our 'special' ally a tour around the base, I, unfortunately, have a business to attend to."
I snorted, unamused by his excuse, I nodded in response, "Wonderful! Now Rogue, have fun with R-2!"
(Rogue the Bat's POV):
Hearing the old man refer to the black-blue striped hedgehog as 'R-2' piqued my curiosity and concern. R-2 didn't seem eager to show me around and hinted at irritation. However, on my mission to discover Eggman's plans, I knew I had to establish a connection.
"Hey there," I said with a charming smile, stepping closer, "Looks like I'm stuck with you for a bit. Mind giving me the grand tour?" R-2 dramatically sighed, hiding her face in a pillow: "Yeah, because that's how I want to spend my day."
I chuckled. "Come on, don't pretend you're not curious about me. How often do you meet another female in this dreary place?"
That caught her attention.
"...None, you're the first," After a pause, she added, "Rogue, right? You're a spy, aren't you?"
"We just met, darling~. How can you tell?" I tried to lie my way out by being posed, yet she surprised me with her observations that I decided not to hide it anymore: "You're dressed provocatively to distract him from your real intentions."
Feigning offense, I tossed my hair over my shoulder, "Aren't we perceptive? I prefer to see it as embracing my fabulousness."
R-2 rolled her eyes, but I noticed a smile forming, "Fabulous or not, I know your type: always seeking information and ready to twist the truth for your advantage."
"I'm impressed, not many get the privilege to earn a compliment but, you're a smart girl," I immediately want to change the topic for now, "Now, do I get to see Eggman's infamous base or not?"
After a brief pause, R-2 slid off the bed, smoothing her unitard. "Alright, since you insist. Just don't expect a red carpet." "I wouldn't dream of it!" I flirtatiously replied, adopting an exaggerated cheerfulness as we exited the room.
As we walked through the base's brightly lit corridors, I noted the mix of high-tech chaos and the numerous cameras recording us. To keep it light, I asked, "What's with all this high-tech stuff? Is the world really in such trouble that Eggman needs all of this?~"
"You could say that." R-2 shrugged, "He's always cooking up something devious, whether it's world domination or some 'genius' scheme to harm Sonic. It's never dull, that's for sure."
"Sounds interesting! And dangerous!" I said, looking at her, "But what do you do when you're not babysitting the mad scientist?" "Babysitting?" She gave me a scoff, "You make it sound like I'm his favorite person in the room!"
I laughed and replied, "Not at all! You're more like the queen of mischief around here—a fierce rogue with plans, right?" She paused, amusement glimmering in her eyes: "You've got some sass, I'll give you that. But yeah, maybe I do have a few tricks up my sleeve." Intrigued, I leaned in closer. "Oh? Care to share?"
"Maybe later," she said, starting to walk again, "Right now, let's get through this tour... and if you want, maybe we can have a 'girl's night' in my room?"
I grinned further. "A girl's night? Now you're speaking my language! I'd love to swap stories, share secrets, or even plot a little mayhem—although I'm not into any evil plans or anything other than stealing precious jewels." I added playfully, nudging her with my elbow.
R-2 chuckled softly, her initial irritation seeming to fade like the shadows in the corridor. "You'd fit right in, Rogue. This place could use some more mischief, not just the usual evil genius antics. But don't think you'll reel me into anything too outrageous."
"Oh, I wouldn't dream of it!" I replied with faux innocence, "Just a little lighthearted fun. I'm not here to throw a wrench in Eggman's plans... yet." I winked at her, enjoying the way she smirked back.
As we strolled through the base, I caught sight of various gadgets and gizmos—things I'd only seen many times during my time as a jewel thief, "By the way, Rogue" R-2 starts, "I don't like it when Egghead calls me R-2, so you should know... you can call me Rei."
"Rei, huh?~ I like it," I said, letting the name roll off my tongue.
It had a nice ring to it, a bit more personal than the usual robotic nicknames, this could turn into more than just a 'simple' secret mission—and maybe, I can bring Rei with me as living proof of Eggman's absence.
After all, I never leave anyone behind.....
Nor anything empty-handed.
