SCARY CAR RIDE.

1774, NOVEMBER 28th, MONDAY12:46 pm.

Noche was still in child form as she sat in the passenger seat of the car. The road outside was almost pitch black save for the streetlamps that'd pass by every so often and illuminate the inside of the car. Otherwise, the world around her was shades of gray.

"You are listening to 66.6 FM radio and there will be consequences. People have been reporting a half-second delay in their mirrors so don't look behind you. Remember, humans taste like pork."

The sky thundered and something clicked against the windshield. Then a few more tinked against the glass before a downpour of hail. Except it wasn't hail – it was teeth. Literal teeth falling in a storm of molars. Clacking on the roof of the car and windshield.

"Dad—"

"Shut it!"

Noche snapped her mouth shut and directed her gaze forward.

"After all you've done and you dare to think of me as your father," he spat. "You can't even do something as simple as facing your fears. I am so ashamed of you."

The blonde lowered her head and stared at her legs. She placed her hands between her thighs and curled into herself. Streetlights passed by at an increasing pace as the car sped faster.

"You have all this power and you can't even save one friend!"

"I'm your reporter tonight and I am a powerful warlock – now watch me pull this great old squid out of a hat," the car radio said. "Now seriously. You are very replaceable. You will be forgotten in due time. Nothing lasts forever."

"Cherries is in a coma because you got the killing blow on that giant centipede," the father figure said. "He helped you out so much and how do you repay him? By dropping a building-sized creature on his head."

The car seemed to get darker and it started shaking as if the suspension was broken as it sped faster. A few grains of sand fell from the ceiling and onto Noche's lap. It made her heart beat so fast that it threatened to burst out of her chest.

"And Jack. He would still be alive if you didn't rush into DeathTech. Your impatience killed him," he scowled. "Speaking of which, what do you think is going to happen to Spark now? Do you think Edward is gonna let Boot's sister stay intact?"

"Dad, the car—"

"Don't interrupt me!" He shouted. "You killed that mother and daughter. You killed Rowan! How many lives do you have to ruin before you realize you're a cancer."

"Tonight we have a light rain but the forecast shows things are only going to get worse. You should bleed out and die."

"All this suffering because you're afraid of returning to that desert," he shouted. "You're a god damn coward!"

"DAD! The car is moving to fast!"

The car was shaking like they were driving on a road full of potholes. Sand cascaded from the roof as streetlamps flew past. Light revealed part of her father's face was peeling off like a skin mask. Underneath was Creeps.

"Face it Noche! You deserve to be alone! You deserve to be trapped in the nothingness!"

The tires squealed louder and Noche turned to look ahead – Baby Noche stood on the road. On instinct, the blonde grabbed the wheel and turned it away from her clone. The car swerved into the path of an oncoming car – Noche crashed through the windshield.

Shards of glass cut her skin to ribbons as she flew through realities. She soared through the sky of a medieval world as hundreds of arrows were set loose. Across the street of a cyberpunk city as a gunfight occurred between a motorcycle gang and the cops. In the cold depths of space just outside an alien spaceship.

Noche crashed onto the asphalt, breaking multiple bones in her right arm, and her left one gone entirely. She bounced three times on the road before rolling to a stop in a puddle of her own blood. Blurred vision cleared to a gas station that was on fire; her dad's car was leaking fuel.

It snaked its way towards the flames; Noche grit her teeth. She tried to move but there was an intense sharpness that pierced her chest with each attempt. The blonde raised her head and there was a large shard of glass embedded into her chest and probably her lung.

Each labored breath became overwhelmingly painful as what felt like a dagger was pressed against her soul. Still, she could deal with pain, it was something she had a lot of so far. Noche forced her legs to move to the nearby water canal. The sound of the trickling stream was safety from the imminent explosion.

She managed to squirm half way there before the fire consumed her. Noche was launched through the air like a rocket – she slammed into the ice-cold waters and sank. The shock to her body was too much, everything was blurry, her eyes heavy. The world went dark and she fell into the abyss.
