"Uh hello?" I heard her voice from the other line. Her tone was a bit chipped, a sudden wave of worry took over my senses but I quickly came over it. "We're meeting up in 45 minutes. Get ready and I'll see you and Debbie's cafe." I said quickly. I was about to hang up when in a panicked voice she yelled. "I can't!" I slightly paused before I asked the next question. "Why?" There was a cause and a slight noise in the background. My eyebrows raised in question but I didn't ask the question lingering at the back of my mind."Uh...I'm a bit busy right now. There's just- a lot going on around here." She said in a dismissive tone. I sucked my teeth and nodded my head. "Okay then. I'll text you to find out when exactly your agenda is not busy." I told her. the murmur of an okay and I knew it was time to cut the call. My mind was still fux ever since the party. It had been like what, 2 days after it. I never nursed a handover or anything like that but my mind was still stuck in the middle of her things.
Fuck.
I had no idea someone could cause this much effect on one's body. And shist if I knew what I had gotten myself into, I would have taken back every single kiss, lick, flick, thrust and orgasm I had gotten out of her and myself. It feels like I'm being tied down to the fucking ground and a fucking stampede of elephants are trampling all over me.
I put back my phone on the charger and focused back on the project I was working on at The Garge. I hadn't been there in a while until I called my grandfather who told me my mother had been trying to get ahold of me for the past few weeks. I about all the painful memories her presence brought into our lives and widely shook my head in disgust. Then I also thought back to all the good memories and shamefully enough, she didn't bring back a single one. She was a judgemental, cynical, manipulative piece of shit that brought down everyone in our family whenever she was given the chance. Even her father -my grandfather, was so sick and tired o her bullshit, that when the divorce became official, he 'lost' all contact and practically disowned her to adopt my father and all of us followed after him and disowned her too.
Not that she was ever really outs, to begin with.
After an hour or two of being in my workshop and finally got a chance to take a walk to the pharmacy and buy myself their nail polish and other stuff I needed for nails. My finger art of one of the things I take very seriously. My papa taught me to love even the parts that seem silliest in society for men cause you get to enjoy taking good care of the part of your body. And for me, those were my fingernails. For my dad, it was his hair and for my older brother, it was taking proper care of his skin-the face.
I finally got home and was met with Fin's worried face. "What's going on?" I asked. "Um...there was a fire at the girls' flat." He said. My heart dropped when I heard the statement. I remembered prior a few hours ago when Jewel claimed she was busy. Fuck so she was dealing with the fire. "What exactly happened?" I asked. He bit his lip in worry and just shrugged at my question. "Can't exactly tell. But all I know is no one but Jewel can cook for shit. Nigel said someone tried baking something." He said. "That's all?" I questioned that too. "I tried to ask what happened but my interrupted by someone trying to talk to Nigel about the fire." Fin said.
