When I get to the bridge, I get a call from John.
“Alden’s tearing across that bridge, heading for the Historic District. Stop him before he reaches the other side,”
“I’m on it,”
Then Moya starts talking.
“Cole, what the hell is going on? There’s something wrong with your phone - every time I try to contact you, I get disconnected,”
“I don’t have time to figure it out. There are more important things I have to worry about,”
She doesn’t respond to that.
I run across the bridge and it’s been torn to shreds.
I use the suspensions of the bridge to navigate over it.
When I land on a solid bit of ground, Alden’s loud voice rings out from infront of me. He’s being masked by a large smokescreen.
“I know you’re back there, electric-man! You won’t stop me! No one will!”
“Alden! This ends, now!”
The smoke clears, revealing the powerful force that Alden destroyed the bridge with.
I’m flabbergasted.
His golem was massive. Normal golems were about 1.5 times my size. But they’d barely be the size of his golem’s finger.
He yells again.
“Ignorant piss-ant! This is what my father wanted, me governing all that I could see. My destiny will be fulfilled! You’re like Kessler, craving what doesn’t belong to you. I’m not letting you stop me! This is my birthright, my destiny! You think you can hurt me? Nothing can compare with what I’ve endured, what I’ve survived. You and Kessler are one and the same!”
Alden starts to pelt hundreds of the compact metal balls at me. I evade them best I can.
When Alden stops, I launch a couple rockets at him.
He staggers and yells again.
“I’ll kill you, that whore, and your thief of a friend! All of you!”
Alden’s damn powerful. I’ll have to hit him with every bit of energy I have. I launch a few more rockets at Alden, trying to weaken him as much as possible.
Then Alden yells incoherently and the bridge is shaking all around us. The lunatic is trying to crush the bridge with his telekinesis. He’s powerful but trying to crush an entire bridge will still take a lot of focus.
If I want to take him out, this will be my only chance.
I start to climb the bridge as it’s falling apart.
When I get to the top, I look down at Alden, still open from attempting to crush the bridge. I jump off, gathering energy as I fall, and smash into the head of Alden’s golem with a deafening clash of metal.
Alden’s golem starts to fall apart, didn’t seem like a threat to anyone.
I walk towards Alden and grab him.
He stammers to talk.
“W-wait! We can work t-together,”
I pause.
“Work together?”
“Yes! We can get revenge against Kessler!”
I hesitate for a moment. Alden must’ve noticed that because the moment that I start to consider working with him, he jumps off the bridge.
He’s a superhuman, so I’m sure that he survived the fall.
Either way, things are coming to an end. The First Sons and Kessler are all gathered here in the Historic District. Kessler’s preparing them for the final battle.
This is the finish line, just thought I wouldn’t be crossing it alone.
