I woke up in a dark place. There was nothing in sight no matter which direction I looked. The ground felt like I was walking on smooth pavement, not even a crack or bump around. I decided to start walking straight and see if eventually I would reach something new. After a few minutes of walking, I started to see a light in the distance and a soft humming sound, like someone was humming a lullaby. I started running towards the light wondering what was going on. Did I die? Should I be running towards the light? What's on the other side of it? I didn't even know where I was, let alone how I got here. As I got closer, I started to see a beach coast, I heard the rushing waves of the ocean, seagulls flying, the winds blowing in the trees, and the humming got louder. It sounded like a female humming.

I sprinted into the light and next thing I knew I was surrounded by nothing but the beach, the sun on my face, the sand on my feet. It was beautiful. I looked around and I eventually saw the back of a woman wearing a long flowing white dress, her hair was dark, and skin looked pale, but her voice was beautiful. I walked up to her from behind quietly, still cautious but curious at the same time. I reached up to tap her shoulder gently. It was soft, and cold for someone out in the sun. She turned around and my eyes widened as I looked up at her.

"Mom?" I said softly, blinking, not believing it.

She gave me a sweet loving smile and opened her arms up for a hug, "Hi Skylar."

I started to tear up as I ran into her arms and hugged close, her arms wrapping around me tightly. I felt her hand stroke my hair gently as I let the tears fall down my cheek.

"I have missed you... so much. I'm sorry I didn't believe you about Shredder... I was so stupid for not believing you." I said as the tears fell faster.

She pushed away gently and held onto my arms and smiled down at me. I felt her hand on my cheek stroke away my tears and she moved some hair that fell out of my face.

"It's okay Skylar.. I have missed you too my sweet girl.. But I am still with you, watching over you every day. Even in the afterlife.. I will still be there to protect my daughter.." She said holding my chin up gently, making me smile feeling her love envelop me again.

"A-am I dead?" I asked, scared to know the answer.

She let out a sweet soft giggle and shook her head, "No sweetheart.. You are very much alive.. Thanks to those turtle friends of yours.. But you are dreaming."

"So am I just dreaming of this conversation.. Or is this real..?" I asked curiously.

She stood up straight and smiled then nodded her head in a direction to walk with her. We walked along the beach together as she explained what was going on.

"This is real.. I decided to come visit you in your sleep because I have some things to tell you. I should have told you this before, but I wanted to keep you out of this lifestyle. I know you have been reading my journal and I'm glad you have been. There are a lot of things in that book to learn from. However I'm going to tell you a bit about our family's past. Our family has lived in Japan for centuries.. In fact if you contact your grandmother, I'm sure she would be willing to give you our family's record book. It has everyone since they started to document things on paper as well as some stories from their lives. The one I want to talk to you about is the one that unfortunately has caused this curse on our family." She started to explain.

"You mean the curse of being back home before nine p.m. otherwise Shredder will come for you?" I asked just to clarify.

She nodded in response. "Yes.. the man's name was Takeo Shiro.. He was one of the firsts in our family to train to be a ninja to protect his family. He joined the Hamato Clan in 1805 and he excelled in his training. He quickly rose to the top in the dojo, and he even had a few other men from three different families who he considered to be his brothers, but they were just friends and neighbors. All four of them rose quickly in their training, becoming full ninjas within two years. In 1807, they learned about an attack that was to come to the Hamato Clan, and all who stood against the Foot Clan and the Shredder. The Shredder warned the Hamato family that if the ninjas they were training would leave them, they would be spared, but any who stayed would be slaine after dark.
