Chapter 6

It has been a few days since I started training ninjutsu with Master Splinter. I had been doing pretty well, I think. I'm becoming more flexible with all the stretches I do before training. I've been practicing my butt off on all the beginner katas Splinter told me about. I've been working on my balance on the balance beam. Of course I wasn't afraid of it because beginners start with it on the ground so no trouble there. Today Splinter was going to test me on the different katas I've been working on.

I sat on the sideline of the dojo watching the four brothers spar against one another. Donnie and Mikey were head to head, while Leo and Raph were paired up. Mikey was enjoying his time hitting his brother's bo staff out of the way with his nunchucks. Donnie smirked finally catching onto Mikey's moves and he faked him out by swinging his bo staff at his head but then sweep kicking Mikey on his shell. Donnie chuckled as he helped his younger brother up. They went off to the side and knelt down watching Leo and Raph.

The clanging of metal against metal was loud. They pushed and pulled each other like a couple of magnets fighting for dominance. Leo swung his blades high above Raph's head, and then he blocked Leo's blades, locking them in between his sais. They growled at each other as they pushed against each other's strength. Their arms started to twitch and shake the longer they stayed like that. Leo's eyes darted to Raph's hands seeing them start to lose their grip on the sais. He then moved his katanas in a circular motion, Raph's sais slipped out of his hands and went flying. Raph let out a loud growl as he quickly recovered and he did an unexpected uppercut to Leo's jaw.

It was like I was watching it happen in slow motion. The contact of Raph's fist to Leo's jaw, his head flying backwards and his body lifted up off the ground from the hard impact. His katanas fell to the ground as he went back. When he landed on his shell, he slid across the floor until his head hit the wall behind him. My eyes were wide when he wasn't moving, Raph so filled with rage, he didn't realize what he had done until we all surrounded Leo. Donnie instantly checked his pupils and his head while I slid on my knees to his other side and placed my hands on his shoulder and one on his cheek, tapping gently.

"Leo.. Leo.. wake up.." I said softly.

Leo's breath was soft and we all heard him groan heavily. He slowly blinked his eyes open, his eyes crossing, his vision probably still blurry from the sudden impact. He looked up at me and reached for my hand on his cheek and took it in his gently.

"J-juliet?" he said softly, my face blushing.

"Who's Juliet?" Mikey asked, watching his brother over Donnie's shoulder.

I looked up at Donnie who had his eyes on me. I feel like Donnie knew, but I looked up at Mikey and shook my head slightly.

"You know the Shakespeare play? Romeo and Juliet? H-he told me this morning he was reading it last night before bed.." I lied.

"Oooh.." Mikey said with a nod. Then he looked confused. "Isn't that a romance story..?" he asked.

"It's technically a tragedy Mikey.. It's got romance, action, drama, death.. Even some form of comedy from back then.. It's a play for everyone.." Donnie said as he helped Leo sit up slowly.

Mikey sat there confused, but he shrugged his shoulders and stood there. Raph was sitting against the wall as Splinter walked over and stood next to me. I tried to take my hand away before he came over but Leo gripped it tighter, not wanting to let go. It filled my heart with joy when he didn't want to let go of my hand, but we were gonna get caught. Splinter looked down at me and placed his hand on my shoulder.

"We will start with your beginner katas test tomorrow.." He said softly, and then looked up at Donnie. "Take Leonardo to get examined.." he said before walking off back towards Raphael.
