Chapter 26

Nyxon's POV
At work, it was busy right away. I walked up to my 10th table of the day.

"Hi good afternoon. I'm Nyxon. I'll be helping you today."

"Nyx? Is that you?"

I looked to my right and saw a familiar looking girl.

No.

That's not her.

"Do you want any drinks?"

"Nyx don't you remember me?"

"You do look familiar. But...that's impossible."

"Damn. You don't remember, your best friend? I'm kinda offended."

"Ma-Masie?! Y-you're supposed to be dead!"

"Surprise! They called my time of death too soon!"

"I-I uh.."

I cleared my throat.

"Can I get you a drink?"

She ordered a drink and I went to get it. I walked up to my manager Elle.

"Uh the weirdest thing just happened. Some girl, is claiming to be my dead friend."

"That's fuckin creepy."

I got her drink ready.

"Your girl's gonna love this one."

"Ha ha. Very funny."

I brought the drink over the table. I put it down.

"You're so tall now. You got hot too."

"Uh. Erm. W-what would you like to eat?"

"Oh, I'm waiting for someone."

Elle walked up to me.

"You can take a short break."

"I-I'm fine."

"It's fine. You have 20 minutes."

I sat down across from Masie.

"So how have you been?"

"I'm okay. I got told, they had a vigil for you."

"Oh that wasn't for me. It was for my classmate."

"Huh?"

"We got into a car wreck."

"I-I'm sorry."

So that wasn't her boyfriend?

"Are you with someone?"

I smiled.

"Yeah. I'm engaged."

"Damn! You finally found someone!"

"Yeah. She's amazing. We were apart for two years but, she just came back. Since day one, she's been so supportive. She's helping me heal. I have a dog too."

"Awww! You have a puppy?!"

"Yeah."

My phone started ringing. I took it out of my pocket. I saw Colette was calling me.

"H-hang on. She's calling me."

I stood up and walked into the bathroom.

*Phone Call with Colette*
"I-I need you to come home."

"Baby? What's wrong?"

"My sister just called me. My dad is out. I-I'm so scared."

"Is he at the house?"

"No."

"I-I'll be there in 15 minutes."

*End of Phone Call*
I ran out of the bathroom. I found Elle.

"I have a family emergency. I have to go."

I ran over to Masie and told her, I was leaving. When I got home, I ran up to the front door. I unlocked the door then ran in. I locked the door.

"COLE? WHERE ARE YOU?!"

Winter ran up to me. She started barking.

"Do you know where she is?"

Winter started running. I ran after her. She led me to the basement. I turned on the light. I saw Colette hiding in a corner. I ran over to her. I sat down in front of her. I grabbed her hands.

"Baby? What's wrong? Why are you down here, sitting in the dark?"

"I-I'm terrified. I-I don't want to die."

"Baby he doesn't know, where we live. You're safe. It's okay."

I cupped her face.

"How do you know, he's out?"

"Sienna told me. He broke out. Nyxon, I don't wanna die!"

"Shhh. You're okay."

I picked her up and started carrying her bridal style. I started walking to our room.

"I'm sorry, I made you leave work!"

"Shhh. Baby you're okay. It was a weird day anyway."

She sniffled.

"Why?"

"I saw Masie."

"Oh no. S-so I'm going to lose you?!"

"No no. Baby no. We went over this already."

Why'd I tell her?

I walked into our room and sat on the bed. Colette curled up into a ball. She started crying.

"Shhh. It's okay. You're safe. It's okay. I'm right here. Try to calm down."
