"Are you going to be in the Village all day, Sir?", Madeline Sailsbury asked. She stared at Thomas Gaines.

"Nay, M'Lady. I am a lowly servant to Lady Dresmonda. She's a Witch. We live at The Mist Gate Castle", Thomas said.

"I don't think you'd want to go there! The Vampires are ruling London. And they're all trying to create more power for themselves. The raven has come to kill us because it has its orders from Dark Witches...I read it some books in Mother's library", Madeline said.

"Well, M'Lady, if there is a battle between the Witches and the Vampires, then your I'll protect you from everyone. Because, you're the most beautiful girl in the Village", Thomas said. He smiled. "Have an apple", he added.

           Madeline smiled.

           She opened the basket.

"Well, Sir, I was hungry", Madeline ate the fruit.

             He also had an apple.

            "I am too", Thomas said.

"Mother and Father are away in London. They're on business", Madeline said.

"What kind of business, M'Lady?", Thomas asked.

"Something about the Ports and Inns. Father mentioned a place called The Shaking Blood Inn", Madeline answered.

"I've heard about it. I don't think they let children inside", Thomas said.

"Can we go, Sir?", Madeline enquired.

"It could be dangerous M'Lady", Thomas said.

                    "Please!", Madeline said.

"Fine, we'll go!", Thomas said, "...but not before we take this basket of fruit to Mist Gate Castle", Thomas added, as Madeline shivered with fear.
