Max

I look over at the doorway to see Robin. I blush, thinking about how long she could've been standing there.

"How long were you standing there?" Eleven asks, reading my mind.

"I saw the whole dance party. I'm disappointed. You guys didn't invite me," Robin says, shaking her head.

"Sorry, Robin," Eleven says with a half smile. She looks back at me and scoots up.

"You don't have to act like you hate her, El. I saw that whole thing," Robin tells me, noticing her walking away from me.

"I don't hate her. I dislike her," Eleven says. I look down, sad that she still doesn't like me.

"That's not what I saw," Robin responds.

"Can you leave? I need to talk to Eleven," I say, looking up at Robin.

"Alright. Have fun," Robin says, winking, and walking away, pulling the door closed. I blush, knowing why she winked. I do not have a crush on Eleven, though.

"What do you want?" Eleven asks, annoyed. How the hell is she so mad? She was just having fun.

"What put you in a bad mood?" I ask.

"Robin was there the whole time," she responds.

"So? She's not going to do anything about it."

"Can you get out of my room now?"

"No, I'm staying here with you."

"Then I'll leave."

"I mean that I'm going to stay over for the night."

"No, you're not," she responds, shocked that I even suggested that.

"Your boyfriend and my boyfriend are best friends. We might as well become friends," I say.

"Fine. One night," she agrees. I smile and walk over to her. I was about to hug her, but then I realized that she wouldn't like that. After five seconds, she did something unexpected and hugged me. I was shocked, but I still hug back.

"I have a love-hate relationship with you," she mumbles.

"It's a work in progress to get you to become my friend," I respond.

"Good luck," she whispers.

"So, why did you hate me?" I ask, pulling away from the hug. She takes a second to think about it.

"I don't know. I guess I was jealous," she finally says. Jealous? Why would she be jealous of me? Clearly, she doesn't know anything about Billy.

"Jealous? Why?" I ask.

"Mike," she responds.

"Oh. Yeah, you definitely didn't have to be worried about that," I laugh.

"Yeah, now I know that."

"We're home!" We hear Steve's voice in the distance. Eleven walks over to the door and opens it. She's really sweet when you get to know her. I walk out of the room behind her. When we get to the living room, I see Steve, Will, and Robin are already there.

"Hi Will," Eleven says, running up to hug Will.

"Hey, El," Will says, hugging back. I wonder when I'll be allowed to call her El.

"Hey Will," I say, once they end the hug.

"Hi!" he says, waving at me. I give him a half smile.

"I guess I have to drive you home, Max," Steve says after we all say hi to each other.

"She's staying over," Eleven cuts in.

"Oh, well, do you kids need anything? Because if not, Robin and I are going to leave," Steve asks.

"Please say no. I'm not trying to be rude, but I want to go home," Robin pleads.

"You have no filter," Steve mumbles, looking down and smiling.

"I'm good," I say. Eleven looks over at Will, and he shakes his head.

"We're good," Eleven says.

"Then we're out. C'mon, Rob," Steve says, leaving the house.

"Bye, kids! Miss you guys already!" Robin says, exiting. Will walks to his room, and I can hear him asking if Mike was on his walkie-talkie.

"I think we should go to Starcourt," I suggest to Eleven.

"Starcourt?" Eleven asks, confused.

"You've never been?!" I ask, surprised.

"No," she responds.

"Alright, Eleven, I'm taking you on an adventure," I say, grabbing Eleven's hand.

"Will, we're going out!" I yell.

"Where?" He questions, rushing out of his room with his walkie.

"Starcourt," I respond.

"Oh, alright. I'm going to go over to Mike's if he ever gets on his walkie," Will explains.

"Have fun!" I say, dragging Eleven out the door. We walk over to the side of the house to get Will's bike. I hop onto the bike and Eleven gets on behind me. Her hands wrap around my waist. I start cycling off to the mall.

"You don't have to call me that anymore," Eleven says randomly.

"What?" I ask.

"You can call me El," she explains. A smile forms on my face.

"Thanks!" I thank her. The rest of the ride was silent. When we get to the mall, I lock the bike to the bike rack, and we walk inside together.

"Shopping time!" I say, happily.

"Where do we start?" El asks.

"In here," I say, grabbing her hand and running into a store. We walk around, looking at all the different outfits.

I look at different shirts and dresses, suggesting random ones for El to try on. El stops and looks at an outfit with a baby blue shirt, baggy yellow pants, and red suspenders. She goes in to try them on. Once she comes out, I immediately realize how pretty she is in it. I got butterflies in my stomach.

"You look good," I tell her, as she's observing herself in the mirror.

"Thanks," she responds. She goes back into the changing room and comes out in a karate uniform. I spin her around, making her dizzy and causing her to fall into my arms. That was the moment I realized I was in love.
