8 years later
Tanjiro's POV

I have been training to do undercover as a demon hunter for a bit over eight years now. I have mastered moon breathing, water breathing, wind breathing, flame breathing, flower breathing, mist breathing, and have almost mastered thunder breathing.

Next week I will be going to the former thunder breathing hashira. The reason Oto-san chose for me to be 'trained' by him is because he has two apprentices. One who is around my age and another who is a year older than me. The older one is going to final selection tomorrow.

I am making my way to Oto-san's office. I walked past the living room but was stopped in my tracks by a pair of arms wrapped around my waist.

I looked behind to see who grabbed me. It was Daki. She was on her knees, had her head on my back, and was holding onto me.

"Daki, you can't keep running off. I'm sorry Tanjiro, she is just really upset that you are leaving next week." Gyutaro said. "It's ok Gyu." I said.

I turned around to face Daki. I bent down a bit. "We can hangout after I get back from Oto-san's office and anything he asks me to do." I said.

She smiled up at me. "YAY!" She yelled. "Thank you Jiro." She said, with a huge smile. I love the nicknames the uppermoons gave me. She stood up and went off with her brother.

I continued my way to Oto-san's office. Most uppermoons have given me my own nickname. Daki and Gyutaro call me Jiro, Douma calls me snowflake, Akaza calls me little biter, and Koku calls me little red.

Douma and Akaza's confuse me. I know I used to bite Douma when I was younger so if Douma gave me that nickname it would make sense. It could be because when I used to biting Douma and he couldn't get me off by himself, Akaza would have to get me off after laughing. Apparently I would sometimes bite one or multiple of his fingers.

I found myself outside Oto-san's office. I brought my hand up to knock. Before I could knock, "Come in Tanjiro." I heard Oto-san say.

I opened the sliding door and entered. "Hi Oto-san." I said, closing the door behind me. "You excited to leave next week?" Oto-san asked, as I walked Infront of him.

"Sort of. I'm excited to go undercover but I'm gonna miss everyone here, and I don't like the sun." I said. He chuckled at my response.

He stood up and walked over to me. He took me into a hug and I hugged back. "I'm gonna miss you, so is everyone else." He said. "I love you too." I said.

"Are you sure you want to go?" He asked, releasing me from the hug. "I'm gonna miss y'all but I'm not sending right years of training down the drain." I said.

He laughed at that and sat back down. "Do you remember the story you will be telling?" He asked.

"Yep. I say that my family was killed by a demon. That my family told me stories about demon slayers and taught me moon breathing with a bit of thunder breathing." I said.

"Very good, and did you think of a reliable role to play so you don't get discovered?" He asked. "Yes. I will be a pure cinnamon roll who can't even tell a lie, but if I do I have a lying face so they don't know when I'm lying." I explained.

"That's a good idea, and remember, while you're away I made a telepathy wave so you and I can chat at any time, undetectable." He said. "Ok, and Oto-san I have a request." I said.

"What is it?" He asked. "Either before I leave or while I'm gone, can you confess your feelings to Koku?" I asked, making him go red. "How did you know about that?!" He exclaimed.
