They drove for awhile until they got to a camp like place that looked really well supported.
There were people working and everyone seemed to be doing something.
Koa drove with Daryl in the passenger seat following Rick and Jesus into the gates as people's heads started turning in their direction.
Before Koa could really comprehend the place her vision of it was blocked by a crowd of joyous people, some looking at her and Daryl but most admiring the U-Haul truck they assumed has supplies in it.A short grey haired woman ran out, they all seemed like they hadn't been through nearly the harsh ways of the new world, they all had clean- ish clothes and weren't filthy looking.
Koa looked around nervously.
She had no idea this amount of people would be here and she was horrified about one of them being bitten but they all looked friendly enough."Keep going through," She looked at Daryl as he pointed and spoke, his voice rough and short.
Koa eventually parked with Rick as she got out of her car.
"We got guns, food, toilet paper, and Daryl got that soda." Rick was talking to a woman with short hair, she smiled and seemed grateful and ran up to Daryl and grabbed the drink out of his hand.
Koa assumed they were a couple and Daryl had retrieved her a drink she wanted.
"This is the newcomer. Think her name was Koa? She's got enough supplies for the whole community and is willing to share."
Rick volunteered Koa, showing his authority sure but Koa was not about to give away all her guns and weapons.
Food? Sure, weapons? Never."I keep my weapons."
Rick looked at her and contemplated his words, he hadn't made a deal with her like he had Jesus about the trade routes.
"I'll share the food and-" Koa's voice muffled as she went into the back of her car, pulling out three big cans of baby formula and as soon as she held them out in her arms a Korean man with black hair and a greyish shirt looked at her with a big smile and gratitude, she assumed he was with whoever was pregnant.
Rick looked shocked, he knew that if he decided to take her weapons she had all the right to take the food and so he just nodded.
"Look, you can have as much as you want I just want all my weapons and a place to keep them."
They all looked at her in shock of her generosity and Daryl began to get skeptical.
"Why you doing that now?" His hands holding his deep black crossbow.
"What you gon' do out there without food huh?" He interrogated her softly.
"Well, I'm sure food can't all be gone. I'll find something."
"No, are you two crazy?"
"Maggie please," Maggie must have been the woman with short hair because she seems in protest of abandoning the woman.
"Glenn, she could be the reason our baby doesn't starve!" Her temper was like fire and Koa felt some type of figurative shield over her when she spoke in protest.
Glenn gave her a worried look and they all talked until finally Koa moved her car and was being lead to a building by the short grey hair woman.
"I'm Carol, thats Maggie, and then Glenn. They're having a baby and you just have them a little more hope." She pointed out the people as she smiled to Koa
Koa walked silently not really knowing how to respond.
"You been out there long time huh?"
"Since the chaos."
"You been bitten?" She slowed down nervous.
"No, I wouldn't be here if I did. I hold up against walkers well, been stuck in a couple hoards before never even got close."
Carol smiled at her words, in the back of her mind she was contemplating the words she would use to exaggerate her ability and put in a good word.
Carol looked at Koa, checking her for any bites in a small dim room.
After finding nothing Carol led her to a small table where Rick and Daryl sat and a small younger looking boy. They all discussed what they would trade, the new supplies gathered, and more importantly, the new trade opportunity with Jesus and his people.
Koa just stood awkwardly looking at Daryl and then Rick.
Carol gave her a reassuring look as the attention was brought back to Koa and Rick got up."So, we all got to make contributions here in order to make everything work. anything you wanna contribute too?"
Koa just stood there awkward as the room was filled with thoughts about her.
"I can hunt pretty well, not to bad at farming either." Koa knew she would be a valued tribute to the community but she didn't feel like boasting.
The group looked impressed and Rick was already thinking about how this may help the gardens and food they needed.
"Great. You and Daryl will go together from now on." Carol smiled as she said it, like she was plotting something.
"What! I ain't goin nowhere with some girl. She gon run out there and ruin the game anyway, she ain't use to huntin she a scavenger." Daryl was in a very defensive protest and Koa felt hurt as he proceeded to insist on her lack of skill.
She just shook her head as Rick began arguing with him, insisting that Koa would be a very good addition to the group and whatever, Koa's thoughts trailed off to old friends, memories played in her head.
The family like argument that was playing infront of her reminded her of her own home, everyone bickering and unable to simply shut up."Girl!" Daryl shoved her shoulder gently, enough to grab her attention as she looked around and realized they made a decision about whatever they were arguing about.
