Elijas pov:
Everything has been quiet. My fathers with his deatheaters planning everything and going to 'take care of people' he thinks will get in the way. Our mother has been in her study non stop or in the garden. I still creep round everytime I go near her or her office. Y/n has been training non stop and I rarely see her come out of the dungeons. The only times I hear from her is when I'm just close enough to hear her grunts or screams as another curse is thrown in her direction. I just wish I could talk to her. I need to talk to her. Today however I think I'm going to get lucky. As y/n came out to get something to drink I called her name. She stopped but didn't turn around. "Yes Elija?" Her voice was lowered and cracked a bit when she said my name. God she needs rest. "I wondered if you wanted to come for a walk round the gardens. As I haven't seen you in a while I thought it would be good for us" I smiled and held my hands tightly behind my back. She looked up and I tried to keep my jaw from dropping.

Cuts and bruises covered her face. They were everywhere. Where it wasn't back and blue there was some type of cuts and a blood stain. Her lip was busted to, in 3 different places. Oh god y/n, what have you done.

"I think I've got to get back to training Elija.. I'm sorry" once again she lowered her head and began to walk off. "Not so fast y/n. i think it's a good idea if you get some fresh air and clean up" I looked down at her. I want to try intimidate her. It's the only way she will come.

She slowly nodded and I took her arm as I led her outside, a cold crisp waft of air hitting us and we did stepped into the gardens.

For about 15 minutes we walked in silence, the sun was setting layering a blanket of orange over the white land. It was pretty.

We had stopped in a place that me and y/n always used to play at when she was about 4. It was in the middle of rose bushes and I pretty pattern., that was now covered in snow, in the middle. I sat her down on the bench and took out my wand. I casted a healing spell and it sorted out some of the blood but the rest was done by a stronger magic, so the spell can't do anything about it. She nodded at me to thank me and continued to look the other way, clearly not knowing what to say. I glanced down at her hand which was also bloody and bruised, as if she had been hit repeatedly. Maybe she was forced to keep training? But by who?

I finally clear my throat "why did you leave hogwarts without telling anyone?" I asked. She quickly turned her head round and locked eyes with me. "How do you know that?" She asked, her stare was making me want to spill everything I know to her. "I just do, and I want to know why y/n" she sighed obviously not having 'being pressed by your brother about why you did something' on her list of to-do things. "Look, with the war coming..I just feel like I have to distance myself. I can't afford to get hurt. And if I hurt them," she glanced away for a second "my friends now, then it will hurt much less later. On top of that, you know the task I have and how much it'll hurt above everything else"
She was talking about the riddles. The awful task she was set by our father. I nodded and decided to change the subject. I want to get closer to her, not make her feel like I'm just here to ask her questions.
"I got you something" I pulled a little black satin bag from my pocket "thought you might like it" she cautiously took it and opened it. She pulled out a small, plain sliver bracelet with Slytherin inside and her birthstone on either side, garnet. "It's gorgeous" she whispered. I pulled her right hand gently and pulled out my wand again. I took the bracelet on our it on with magic. She instantly pulled my in for a hug. A big, warm hug. We stood up again and walked in silence once more.

10 minutes had passed and y/n spoke off. her tone was cold. "i have to go back and train elija, but thank you" she gave me a slight smile. As she began to walk of i grabbed her wrist. she's not going just yet. not on my watch. "I need to know something" my voice matching hers. she stopped and looked at me. i placed my hands behind my back and looked her directly in her eyes. "I overheard a conversation with our 'mother' and someone else" she looked at me like she wanted to me carry on "saying she wanted to.." the same look washed over her face "kill me because apparently i'm going to be the next dark lord and she can't have that"i blurted out.

her expression at first was worried but soon curled into a little smile. i shared the same look and we both laughed "mother doesn't know anything" she began "it was part of fathers plan, he knows exactly what's going on. he wouldn't let some women do anything to destroy that" she gave me a quick smile and walked off. Surprisingly, i had been let in on this little secret. mother believes that i will take over from father after he 'retires' but that's far from the truth. y/n is next in line, she always has been.
