It was obvious to me that Connor was drop dead serious about Pepper. I honestly found this really weird because I hate the guy and yet I'm setting him up with my best friend.
"I don't know." I hesitated.
"Zoe, please? I really like your best friend." He pleaded.
"Fine. I guess. I could probably ask her-"
"Great! See ya.'" He dashed off the bus and went down to catch up with his friends. I almost forgot that he had "important" friends. Connor was the football team's MVP. He was the sweet boy that almost everyone loved. I don't know why I just couldn't wrap myself around the fact he is just a guy I'm tutoring and I'm not even in the same social level as he is (which means we really couldn't be friends).
I sat in my usual chair in History class. I was near a window and at the very back. This gave me space to think and space out during Mr . Webber's monotonous speech about the World War 2.
I was thinking about how I would set up Connor and Pepper. Maybe I could set up a nice pic nic dinner for them. Or I could also rent them a romcom movie they could watch at someone's house. Ideas kept coming and going the whole History Clas until a loud bell rang.
I was startled and noticed I've been spacing out for an hour. It's a new record!! Anyway, I head to Literature class as soon as I could since there's only a ten minute interval and my other class room is at the other side of the building.
"Ouch!" I bumped into someone's shoulder.
"Zoe, I'm so sorry!" Peter apologized. I was so embarrassed with how bratty I sounded.
He said extending his hand, "here, I'll help you."
I grabbed it. His hand was bigger than mine but when it touched, I felt a chill run down my spine. It was smooth and the lines on his palm were perfect. His touch was so soft and tender. It felt like one wrong move would break it. But that didn't matter because his hand fits in my like it's made just for me.
He pulled me up and our eyes locked. I couldn't quite read his emotion because I was too caught up on those eyes; those wonderful sea green eyes. It twinkled in all the right places. His brown hair was messy just the way I like it.
Criiinnnggggg!!!!!
We both snapped out of our day dreams and came back to reality. He was searching my eyes for something. I don't know what. Probably an explanation that I've been dreading. Our eyes crept down and saw our hands still intertwined. Probably instinct, we immediately pulled away from each other. He looked at me again then left for class. He didn't say anything. Not even a word.

I couldn't focus on anything today. Not even Algebra and Literature. I was caught up on my moment with Peter. It felt ...something. I don't know what. I think my feelings have been all jumbled up.
First, I was shocked that he made it last. Usually, he would pull away. Second, I'm confused at that look he gave me. I wasn't sure if he was looking for something or was just wondering if I liked him back. Lastly, I'm unsure as heck. I don't know if I'm ready to risk our friendship for something more, but if it doesn't turn out the way I imagined, it would wreck everything; our trust, our relationship, and our friendship.
"Zoe!" Pepper screamed.
"W-What?" I asked.
"I was asking if you've recently talked to Connor."
"Connor?"
"No, the donkey. Of course, Connor!" She replied sarcastically and irritated at the same time.
"Oh. He said you bailed on him."
"Yeah. That was part of my test."
"Test?"
"Yeah. The Elite Magazine's Guide To Finding The One."
"Okay..."
"It said first, you should bail on him to know if he is serious with going out."
"I don't get it."
"It will show you that this isn't just a one time thing."
"How sure are you that this Guide To Finding The One actually works?"
"They have statistics."
"Do you even know what statistics are?"
"Yes! I'm not that dumb."
"Okay, okay. Calm down."
"Anyway, it showed that it works 70% of the time."
"Uh-huh."
We continued eating our lunch and sipping our drinks when Pep turned to me and tried to casually ask me, "Zoe, what's up with you and Peter?"
