The Guy That Got Away (On Hold)

Chapter 2

It was a few weeks later and Aiden and I were already super close. Aiden was one of those people that had the brightest blue eyes you ever see. He also had bright red hair that only made his eyes stand out more.

It was really difficult not to stare into those eyes too long.

He looked at me with those bright blue eyes and said "Happy Birthday Kaylee!"

I laughed because I didn't think he would remember since I had only met him like 2 weeks before. "Thanks Aiden! I seriously thought you were gonna forget." I said.

"I got you something for your birthday", he said.

I was thinking to myself, what could he possibly get me. He still doesn't know me that well. So I asked him, "what is it?".

"It is really amazing. Are you sure you can handle it?, he said.

"I think I can manage.", I said laughing.

That's when he stood up and looked at me like I was crazy because I was still sitting down. He just stared at me until I asked him "why are you staring at me?"

"Cause I am waiting for you to stand up so I can give you your present"

I was thinking, since when does giving somebody a present involve standing up? I didn't question it, I just stood up like he wanted me too. Then, he attacked me giving me the biggest hug I could ever imagine.

I laughed after he was done hugging me. That's when he stared at me with those piercing blue eyes and said, "hope you liked your present".

I laughed and said, "I couldn't have asked for anything better"

We got on the bus later that day and talked the whole ride home again.

We talked about music mainly. We talked about our favorite songs and bands and all that.

That's when he showed me a song by the band Breaking Benjamin. Which was his favorite band.

He was staring at me with this big grin on his face waiting for me to tell him what I thought of the song or the band.

I laughed and smiled back because there was no way I could look at him and not smile. That's when he said, "So, what do you think?"

"Honestly, they're a good band", I said. When I said that he just smiled even bigger.

"Well, my stop is coming up next. You should text me sometime?", he said, and by the look on his face I could tell that he was a little scared of my response.

I laughed and programmed my number in his phone as "Kaylee(:" . I made sure to put the smiley there so I would be the only person with a smiley face in his contacts.

When I programmed my number in his phone and gave his phone back, he was gleaming. He was so happy. So right when the bus was about to stop at his house, he said, "I'll text you! Okay?".

I smiled at him and said "okay". Then he got off the bus.

Then later that day I checked my phone and saw that it was him. He had sent me a recording. So, I listened to it.

My heart almost melted when I heard that the recording was of him playing my favorite song on guitar, as well as him singing the lyrics too.

The next morning on the bus, he sat with me. Our hands bumped into each others and he looked at me and said, "your hands are freezing!"

I laughed and said, "I know, they're always cold".

So he took my hands and held them between his, warming them up the whole way to school.
