Chapter 6

After Aiden and Devon left, I felt so much better. Aiden was right, I didn't need Danielle in my life. She was a terrible friend.

After Aiden got home he texted me and said, "I enjoyed being with you today, and I'm glad to see that you were so much calmer since you told me about what happened. I'm here for you whenever you need me."

My heart was racing. I love when he said things like that. He was such a good friend.

Aiden called me that night, and we talked till 3 in the morning. Hearing his voice at night helped me fall asleep. To be honest, I think he started singing to me after I fell asleep.

I asked him about it in the morning when I woke up, and he admitted to singing to me.

After we got to school, his best friend Devon came over to me and asked to talk to me in private.

I didn't think anything of it, so I went with him. He looked at me and said, "you know that Aiden really cares about you right?".

I said, "we'll yeah, we're best friends. Of course he cares for me."

"That's not what I mean..", Devon said.

"We'll what do you mean?", I asked.

"I mean that he really cares for you. He thinks about you all the time and he even told me that he dreams about you every night. He told me that he wishes that you cared for him the same way he cares for you. He dreams of the day that you realize your true feelings for him and you all finally get together", Devon said.

I was speechless. I knew Aiden liked me, but that was wayy more than like. I didn't know what to say. So Devon said, "I don't expect you to say anything. And he doesn't know that I told you this. So don't act different around him. That's the last thing he would want. I just got tired of him not telling you how he feels".

The school day dragged on. All I could think about was Aiden. Wondering if what Devon said was true.

When school finally ended that day, I went and got on the bus. I didn't know what i was gonna say to Aiden.

When he got on the bus, he was looking directly at me and smiled. I don't know how I didn't realize how he felt about me. It was written all over his face.

I looked at him and smiled back. I couldn't help it. He was so adorable.

He looked at me and said, "Scarlett and I broke up today".

I almost had a heart attack. So I said, "WHAT?! WHY?!".

"it was kind of a mutual thing. We felt that we were better off as friends. We realized we didn't like eachother as much as we thought we did".

I looked at him and said, "ohh wow. When exactly did this happen?".

He said. 'Just about 5 minutes ago".

I was shocked. I expected them to last a long time.

That's when he looked at me. He put his finger under my chin and lifted my face up to look him in the eyes. We just stared into eachothers eyes for a while before I realized what was happening.

I looked away from him. I loved our friendship. But lately, it's been getting really complicated. What Devon said, was right..

Aiden asked me, "what's wrong?".

I looked at him and said, "nothing's wrong".

"Your lieing", he said. "I can see it in your eyes when your lieing. You can't lie to me".

I didn't know what to say. I didn't know how I felt or anything. I rush of emotions were filling my head. I guess he noticed how nervous and stuff I got because he looked me in the eyes and said, "Kaylee, stop over thinking it. Your worrying yourself too much. Your starting to get really pale. Don't think about it anymore. We'll talk about it later".

Once again, he knew exactly what to say to me when something was wrong.

He took my hand and held it and of course, rubbed my leg. Instantly calming me down.

I hated how much control he had over me. I knew it was a matter of time before something actually happened between us.
