That's Our Dad

Chapter 19

After having a lot of fun the whole day, New returned home but he got a text from his father,

[We plan on watching a cinema so we will be late. Krist and Win are here too.]

Reading the text he felt little sadness but shook it off as getting late means eating outside and called Off who haven't gone,

“I’m still here in your gate New.” Off received with a laugh.

“Really? Ok, then I'll come out in a moment, let go and din outside.” New said excitedly. It's not everybody gets to spend time with this stranger and eat dinner outside.

“Ok, quickly.”

New was about to cook something was his father texted him so he quickly washed his hand and turned to go when he heard a loud bang repeatedly. He was startled and run away at the speed of light forgetting to lock the front door. He jumped onto Off which made the latter laugh but hopped off the bike to close the gate.

“Now, what about you meeting my grandpa and my aunt? You...” Off said as soon as they both got on the bike after him locking the gate but failed to notice the front door.

“Yes, yes... But what if they don't like me?” New said interrupted Off.

Off turned to New and said softly, “How can you say that? They will and love adore you, trust me they will hug you first before you even introduced.” and kissed the younger forehead so lovingly.

“P’Offf~” New whined. He liked the kisses the Stanger had given him since he first met him in grade 1 but he didn't want to show that so he pretended to dislike the kiss. But the elder would always kiss him again whenever he whined.

“Let’s go...” Off said and smirked when he saw the excitement in New eyes.

‘Just wait...’ He thought.

As usual, the triplet along with their parents was already in their grandfather's house. They were sitting in the living room with the holders waiting for their grandfather's grandson. Tay already met him but doesn't know anything about the others.

Laughter was heard along with some running footsteps, the triplet could see the anxiety, excitement and many other emotions in their grandfather and stepmother's faces d they were wondering what those people might be.

Then suddenly the door was opened laughter filled the house,

“I win! I win!” a voice was heard along with a shout which the triplet recognised quickly,

“Because you cheat.” the laugh became louder. And the adults were quick to approach where the laughing originated. The triplet looked at each other and quickly followed them.

“How did I cheat? It's you who stands there... Oh Pupu, aunt... Uncle” the laugh died down, “Meet New. He is the... Ohh!” before Off could speak his grandpa and aunt already hugged the younger.

At first, New was surprised by the sudden hugged but hugged back when he remembered Off's word.

“Off talked a lot about you. It's nice to finally meet you, New.” Esther said after detaching herself from the younger by pulling his father away too, “Sorry if we asked without asking permission. Have you eaten, dear?”

“We had lunch on our date. But we haven't had dinner yet and I'm starving.” it was Off who responded which made Tay and Bright boil in anger.

“You are cheating on me?!” Tay asked out of nowhere making everyone in the room look at him. He may not love New as much as he loved Win but the latter was dating him so knowing him going on a date with someone make him jealous.

“No wonder why your parents don't invite you to a family outing. Now I get why Krist and Win don't like you.” Bright added, he too may be dating Win but New and he love each other so going on date with others did bother him.

“What are you talking about?” Push said angrily when his wife and father-in-law looked at Bright.

“For your information, I'm not a part of their family, Bright. I'm an orphan so they just adopt me to guard their house. I'm their cook and helper. You should listen to your  Boyfriend insult properly if you want to insult me.” New said calmly and continue when he saw Bright open his mouth to speak, “And I'm not the one who didn't pick up their boyfriend’s call to go out with their brothers instead. So next time if you want to talk, think carefully before hissing your venom to others.”

The adults were shocked to hear New's story, bright and Tay looked down in shame, and Off and New looked at New with admiration on his new side.

“Let go to my room, New. I've something for you too.” Off said New nodded happily.

Esther quickly wiped her tears and said, “I’ll fix the dinner and call you boys.” and she was gone, dragging her father and husband.

The triplet who saw the tears on their mother's face was confused but dropped to ask later. They watched New jump on Off's back who happily accept by holding the younger things and teasing by swinging side by side to fill the house in laughter again.

During dinner, Off's grandpa and aunt asked a lot of questions which New answered honestly. For some reason, New didn't dislike the two, he felt quite comfortable with them. Tay, Bright and Singto didn't say anything. Bright and Tay couldn't stop looking at New with guilty which didn't affect the latter at all. After dinner, New hugged the two adults and went home on Off's bike after promising to come frequently.

As they become nearer to the house, Off notices the front door open widely. He started panicking, thinking that the others were already backed. He felt New hold tighter so he stopped his bike and turned to New who looked like he was about to cry.

“What’s wrong, New?”

“I heard a lot of banging sound earlier.”

“It may be a cat...”

“No it was not, it was like someone banging on the door.”

“Okay, then let go and check.” Off said after releasing a sigh.

The two entered the house by New hiding behind Off. The younger was holding the elder's hands tightly.

“Is anyone here?” Off shouted but there was nothing, “Is any ...” a sound of someone banging on a door interrupted the two moments.

Off quickly embraced New into his chest as he looked around for any danger. But there was none only the desperately banging. The two slowly made their way to the sound, only to find the door to the basement. The two looked at each other.

“Is anybody here?” Off again asked only to get some muffling sound so he quickly open the door which luckily didn't lock.

As soon as the door opened, the two were frozen.
