The Ocean residence was one moderate-sized house which looked as homely as a home could. My home could never, ever look this way.
The door which entered through opened in a kitchen where Emily Ocean and Honey Ocean were sitting, sipping something from their coffee mugs and laughing.
That tugged at my heart.
I never had that. I could never have that.
Their gaze snapped to Laurent and then me. They both raised their eyes at us.
"Well well well", Honey said, grinning from ear to ear. " What do we have here".
I smiled nervously, awkwardly putting my hands on the counter because I didn't know what to do with them. Laurent just walked to a drawer and pulled something out, leaving me to explain everything.
"I-uh. We, Laurent and I were at the cafe and he didn't have a ride home so I decided to give him a ride and then we stopped here and then the hail decided to start so Laurent suggested that I stay here till the storm ends", I said in one breath. I knew how bad it looked. Laurent was naked and I had only my black crop top with on, my clothes were messy and I knew my hair was too.
" Don't be nervous darling". Emily stood up with a smile. "We are happy to have you here".
I sighed in relief. " Thank you so much, Mrs. Ocean".
"Call me Emily, I think I asked you to do that already".
I nodded. " Yeah".
My phone rang, I took it out of my pocket and checked the called ID.
Uncle Artie.
"Excuse me", I said as I attended the call, walking a little away from the people. Laura sat down beside Honey who elbowed her, her eyes narrowed in irritation. I was gay for Honey. Laura fell on the floor.
" Yes, Uncle. "
"Hey, buddy. Amelia told me you are safe".
" That I am".
"The transmission tower in front of the mansion fell. It'll be removed till the morning. I'm stuck inside so you'll have to stay at a friend's place".
" God, is anyone hurt?", I asked, worried. Many workers worked at the mansion.
"No, thank God for that. Crash at any of your friend's place, okay?".
" I'll stay at Amelia's probably".
He hummed. "One more thing", he said hesitantly. " You remember your mom's piano in the garage?".
I froze. "Don't tell me".
"The transmission tower fell upon the garage basically. The vehicles are not damaged but it managed to break some of the building and the piano is ruined".
"God, Uncle." I clutched my forehead. "We cannot actually do anything about it now. I'll stay at a friend's you, stay safe and don't go out till they clean up, yeah?".
" I'm the adult here and sure, I won't. We need to talk, though. I hope you know I didn't mean to sound so harsh".
"I'll talk to you later, Uncle."
"I love you, buddy".
I hung up, sighing slowly. I kept the phone in my pocket and turned around. Three ocean eyes looked at me. Laura was gone.
" Everything alright?", Laurent asked.
I shook my head. "A transmission tower fell down on the garage at home. It was just Uncle Artie asking me to stay at some friend's place." I looked out of the window, the hailstorm had stopped but the rain was still blowing. "I should go now", I said, looking back at them.
