Every day was the same routine. Wake up, go to school, after school activities, go home, repeat. It gets tiring after a while, not having anything new or exciting in your life. It almost feels as if you aren't really there anymore, your body just carries you through the same process. This is the idea that is ingrained into Saithe's brain as she picks out her outfit for the day. She likes to dress comfy for the fall weather as well as keep some style in mind. Her outfit for the day happens to be baggy jeans and a band tee, almost like every other day.
She made her way down the stairs to be met with the smell of burnt breakfast. Saithe walked into the kitchen and saw her mom swatting at the smoke coming from the stove. Her mom removed the pan from the stove and tossed it onto the counter in a panic. She saw Saithe and gave her a half-smile. "Oh, good morning dear! I didn't know you were up." She said. Saithe put on a smile for her mom and replied, "I always wake up at five mom."
Saithe walked to the fridge and pulled out the apple juice to pour her a cup. "I can see that breakfast didn't work out in your favor." She raised an eyebrow as she looked over at her parent. "Yes - well, I seem to have gotten distracted a little too much longer than I should've." Saithe chuckled at her mom's words and pulled a cup from the cabinet. She poured her juice and took a sip while watching her mom scrape off the burnt batter into the trashcan. "I'll be out late today." She informed her mom. Her mother acknowledged her with a nod, which told Saithe she wasn't actually listening. "That's great hun." She spoke in a monotone voice as she busied herself with cleaning the failed meal. She left her cup on the counter, knowing her mom always picks it up after she leaves.

She grabbed her bag from the hooks by the front door and also grabbed her keys. Used to, her best friend would pick her up and bring her to school, but that was before he got noticed by the popular crowd. Not that Saithe minded much, but it felt as if she wasn't good enough for him anymore.
The car started with a little rumble, the engine fighting the cold air of fall mornings. As she turned on the radio, Saithe was well on her way to school. The same songs from every morning before played while the world started to feel unreal to her at this moment.
Her thinking was interrupted by her phone ringing. She checked to see that it was her friend Jupiter. She accepted the call, it connecting to the Bluetooth and her friend's voice blasting through the speaker. "Where are you? I need help on the Statistics homework." Jupiter's voice was sweet but stern, that was just the way it came out. "I'm halfway there." Saithe replied with a sigh. "Well drive faster, my academics depend on you!" Jupiter huffed and ended the call. Saithe wasn't surprised that was the only reason she called. Everybody who spoke to her seemed to use her for something, but then again, it's not like she made an effort to stop them. After everything seemed to blend together, Saithe avoided anything that meant a flurry of emotions.
Thunder echoed through the sky and it made Saithe's head hurt. She pulled into the shoulder of the road and laid her head on the wheel with her eyes closed. Her head was now pounding as her breathing quickened. She heard a sudden whisper of wind and looked up. The sky was clear again and her head stopped beating immediately. For a moment, she was worried she imagined it all. That was until she realized the thunder gave her the same unease as it did from the dream.

Just five seconds after Saithe got out of her car, Jupiter was by her side. "So where's your paper at?" She asked. Saithe grabbed her bag from the backseat and turned to look at Jupiter. "In my bag." She stated it as if it were obvious. "Ok.. so can you hand it to me?" Jupiter cocked her head in question. "You owe me." Saithe said. She pulled out her folder and handed Jupiter the paper. "Money or a good time?" She smiled. "Friendship." Saithe answered. This being their daily saying. They both lightly conversed while walking inside the school building.
Jupiter took forever to copy down the answers in the cafeteria while Saithe ate breakfast. Today the school decided on chocolate muffins, the best thing they have. Daydreaming was Saithe's specialty, or at least that's what Jupiter tells her. "I swear, you have this whole other world you visit and there's no snapping you back to reality.", were her precise words. Saithe turned to look at Jupiter, watching her write in her perfect handwriting. She wished she could write like that, or just have some excitement in her life. Jupiter looked up at Saithe and grinned. "All done! Now Mrs. Grenald can't lecture me today." Saithe took back the paper that Jupiter handed over. "I don't know, she seems to find something to yell at you about on the daily." Saithe replied. Jupiter just shrugged, knowing Saithe was right in the end. The bell rang, signaling the time to head to first period. Unfortunately for Saithe, it was, in her mind, the most boring class to exist; History.

The class was already buzzing with chatter as Saithe entered the room. She took her seat in the middle of the first row and pulled out the work from the previous day. She knew nobody else had done it, they never do. They just ask her for the answers until she gives in to avoid their annoyance. But today, she had a different take on that. She felt powerful, having the ability to allow them to flunk or make them learn to listen.
Pierce, one of the class clowns, yelled across the room at Saithe. "Hey valedictorian, got the answers?" She snickered, wondering why he had to make such a scene. Now everybody was crowded around her desk, trying to get the paper so they won't fail this class from lack of work. It ticked her off, unlike before, she cared about the fact they used her.
Saithe placed her hand over her paper and smiled. "Actually, I don't give people who don't try free credit. However, I'm willing to help you on the paper or tutor you if needed." As she expected, Pierce scoffed and turned away. "Whatever, be selfish." He remarked. Everyone being immature, made "oohs" and "ahhs". Saithe just rolled her eyes, he did this to himself. She started thinking about how she didn't used to act like this, she used to be optimistic and bright. Guess that's what simply going through life can do to a person.
The final bell rang and in came her teacher. "Alright class, I know everybody in here works hard, so I decided to give you a free and easy grade. Time for a pop quiz!" He chuckled, knowing more than half of the class never pays attention. Saithe grinned at the sight of Pierces face dropping at the comment of todays work. She always knew karma would come for those who deserved it.
