You know, sometimes he wished it was all real.

The kissing, the hugging, everything.

Eddie wished it were real. Him being Steve's boyfriend. Being able to have someone by his side. Being able to have someone he knew would be there to comfort him. He wanted all of that. He left that party out of embarrassment and, he hated to admit it, his own awkwardness around the people he liked -no, loved- the most.

"Hey, Eddie!" The bell rang above his head, ringing in his ears like an echo. It was Steve. Eddie straightened his posture. "Hey, Steve." He said, ready to ring up his usual order, always for him, Robin, and Vickie. "Usual?"

"Uh, yeah." Steve said absentmindedly. He was fidgeting with his pockets. Eddie wondered what was up with him as he typed in the numbers.

"Yeah, so that'll be arou-" He started before Steve's lips were on his. He pushed him away gently. "I thought we were only doing this in public?" He asked softly. "I don't care about any of that stupid shit anymore, I think you're beautiful, you are beautiful, I want it to be real." Steve protested, flustered. Eddie cocked his head to the side. It was really cute when he went on a rant. "Okay." Eddie shrugged. Steve looked back up, confused.

And then they were kissing again, on top of the counter, where anybody could see, but they didn't give a single shit.
